Using data collected with the HyperCP (E871) spectrometer during 1997 fixed-target run at Fermilab, we report first observation of decay K--->pi(-)mu(+)mu(-) and new measurements branching ratios for K+/--->pi(+/-)mu(+)mu(-). By combining decays K+-->pi(+)mu(+)mu(-) K--->pi(-)mu(+)mu(-), measure Gamma(K+/--->pi(+/-)mu(+)mu(-))/Gamma(K+/--->all) = (9.8+/-1.0+/-0.5)x10(-8). The CP asymmetry between rates two modes is...
We have compared the p and p¯ angular distributions in 117×106 Ξ−→Λπ−→pπ−π− 41×106 Ξ¯+→Λ¯π+→p¯π+π+ decays using a subset of data from HyperCP experiment (E871) at Fermilab. find no evidence CP violation, with direct-CP-violating parameter AΞΛ≡(αΞαΛ−α¯Ξα¯Λ)/(αΞαΛ+α¯Ξα¯Λ)=[0.0±5.1(stat)±4.4(syst)]×10−4.Received 27 September 2004DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.93.262001©2004 American Physical Society
We present a measurement of the total cross section for γγ→hadrons, with one photon quasireal and other spacelike mass squared −Q2. Results are presented as function Q2 γγ center-of-mass energy W, range extending from 0.2 to 60 GeV2, W in 2 10 GeV. The data were taken TPC/Two-Gamma facility at SLAC e+e− storage ring PEP, which was operated beam 14.5 exhibits gentle falloff increasing W. Its dependence is shown be well described by an incoherent sum vector-meson pointlike scattering over most...
