We present a Faraday Cup Array (FCA) beam profile monitor designed for rapid monitoring of high-intensity direct current ion beams. The consists 2112 small cups (FCs) arranged uniformly in grid pattern over an area 89.2 × mm2. These FCs are rows and columns, forming 64 independent channels, which evenly split into 32 x-channels y-channels, with each channel comprising 33 FCs. Each is connected to 64-channel picoammeter, allowing all channels conduct measurements simultaneously independently....
The jellium model of free electron gas and its extended version have been widely used to understand the neutralization alkali-metal ions on metal surfaces. We report an unexpected deviation from prediction that we observed in $\mathrm{N}{\mathrm{a}}^{+}$ scattering Al(111) surface. find probability decreases monotonically with increasing ion velocity for specular condition, which is consistent well-known parallel effect. However, exhibits bell shape variation outgoing angle a given incident...
In the scattering and stopping of heavy ions on a few surface layers in solids, contributions electronic nuclear energy losses can become comparable. this work we present study 0.6--5-keV Ar ion Cu (100) surface. Energy-loss spectra were measured displayed some changes as incident changes. Thus, structured spectrum is observed at higher energies. We analyze characteristics from energy-loss components using both Monte Carlo kinetics simulation assuming an averaged electron density...
A two-dimensional position-sensitive microchannel plate detector, with a Ø100 mm sensitive area and equipped four integrated amplifiers, is realized new anode scheme. The constructed by two independent one-dimensional resistive anodes, each consisting of an array parallel copper strips connected resistors in series on printed circuit board (PCB). arrays are perpendicularly aligned to realize position resolution, the intervals between adjacent PCB nearer cut out allow electrons passing...
A challenging effort is under way to understand the essence of quantum size effect two-dimensional materials in order achieve ultimate goal arbitrarily tailoring their properties near future. Here we present experimental and theoretical study resonant neutralization low-energy alkali-metal ions on clean graphene-covered polycrystalline copper surfaces. The ion strongly depends number graphene layers, it gradually saturates for three five layers graphene. This result consistent with that...
A beam-profile monitor has been constructed based on a two-dimensional cross-connected-pixels anode and 128-channel picoammeter system. It can provide the total beam current, as well current projections in x- y-directions with spatial resolution of ∼1 mm. is suitable for diagnosis low-energy charged-particle beams ranging from subpicoamperes to nanoamperes, e.g., ion extracted an electron source.
Using a ring-strip resistive anode and pair of integrated spectroscopy amplifiers, circular radius-sensitive microchannel plate (MCP) detector is developed for future studies ion-atom collisions. The tested by 55Fe X-ray source radial resolution 0.2 mm achieved.
