The scientific objectives of the ExoMars rover are designed to answer several key questions in search for life on Mars. In particular, unique subsurface drill will address some these, such as possible existence and stability organics. PanCam establish surface geological morphological context mission, working collaboration with other instruments. Here, we describe geology, atmospheric science, 3-D vision. We discuss design PanCam, which includes a stereo pair Wide Angle Cameras (WACs), each...

A major scientific goal of the European Space Agency's ExoMars 2018 rover is to identify evidence life within martian rock record. Key this objective remote detection geological substrates that are indicative past habitable environments, which will rely on visual (stereo wide-angle, and high resolution images) multispectral (440–1000 nm) data produced by Panoramic Camera (PanCam) instrument. We deployed a PanCam emulator at four hydrothermal sites in Námafjall volcanic region Iceland,...

Abstract The subsurface exploration of other planetary bodies can be used to unravel their geological history and assess habitability. On Mars in particular, present-day habitable conditions may restricted the subsurface. Using a deep mine, we carried out program extraterrestrial analog research – MINe Analog Research (MINAR). MINAR aims carry scientific study test instrumentation designed for surface by investigating geology, whilst establishing potential this technology has transferred...

Abstract This study describes the utilization of near edge X‐ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) to investigate hole transporting material (HTM) 2,2ʹ,7,7ʹ‐tetrakis( N , ‐di‐ p ‐methoxyphenylamine)‐ 9,9ʹ‐spirobifluorene (Spiro‐OMeTAD) and its most common dopants, lithium bis‐(trifluoromethylsulfonyl) imide (LiTFSI), 4‐ tert ‐butylpiridine ( t BP), 2,3,5,6‐tetrafluoro‐7,7,8,8‐tetracyanoquinodimethane (F4‐TCNQ). By changing angle sample with respect beam, orientation molecules on surface can...

Photoelectron spectroscopy is a powerful characterisation tool for semiconductor surfaces and interfaces, providing in principle correlation between the electronic band structure surface chemistry along with quantitative parameters such as electron affinity, interface potential, bending offsets. However, measurements are often limited to ultrahigh vacuum only top few atomic layers probed. The technique seldom applied an situ probe of processing; information usually provided before after...

This work describes the utilization of near edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) to investigate hole transporting material (HTM) 2,2ʹ,7,7ʹ-tetrakis(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenylamine)- 9,9ʹ-spirobifluorene (Spiro-OMeTAD) and its most common dopants, lithium bis-(trifluoromethylsulfonyl) imide (LiTFSI), 4- tert -butylpiridine ( t BP) 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (F4-TCNQ). Utilizing angle resolved NEXAFS, orientation molecules on surface can be observed. The data...

Here we describe the evaluation and subsequent re-design of an optical, point care parasite infection diagnostic instrument. The original optical system was resolution limited by focusing objective which had f5.6 numerical aperture with effective 3Mega pixel performance giving a minimum 3.73μm. Changing to f2.4 lens employing 12Mega sensor, combined illumination modelling re-design, improved 1.46μm within necessary 3mm field view. This presents simple case for change leads benefits in both...
