Physical unclonable functions (PUFs) and biometrics are inherently noisy. When used in practice as cryptographic key generators, they need to be combined with an extraction technique derive reliable bit strings (i.e., key). An approach based on error correcting code was proposed by Dodis et al. is known a fuzzy extractor. However, this method appears difficult for non-specialists implement. In this study, the properties of physical unclonable functions (PUFs) for 28-nm process field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) are examined. A PUF is a circuit that generates device-specific IDs by extracting device variations. Owing to variation, no two PUFs will generate same ID even if they have identical structures and manufactured on silicon wafer. However, because influence variation increases as size node shrinks, it uncertain whether can be built using recently developed small-scale...

We fabricated organic ring oscillators (ROs) on a flexible substrate and utilized them as the core circuit of physically unclonable function (PUF). An RO-PUF is security primitive that generates unique identification numbers (IDs) by extracting frequency variation RO. two RO-PUFs evaluated their IDs in terms stability uniqueness at various operating voltages. The experimental results indicate our have high degree exhibit good relative to voltage fluctuations with nominal below 2 V.

A physical unclonable function (PUF) with a novel hardware architecture called Pseudo-LFSR PUF (PL-PUF) is developed. The structure of the PL-PUF based on LFSR but it actually large combinational logic. long feedback signal effectively extracts device variation, and consequently output IDs generated in different devices become completely dissimilar. advantages are that (1) size circuit small since simply consists inverters few XOR gates, (2) efficiently outputs long-bit ID all n bits...

Physical unclonable functions (PUFs) generate device-unique data streams by using manufacturing variations of each LSI. High-security authentication for counterfeiting prevention and secret key generation encryption are provided through PUFs. Such technology is a recent innovation, Verayo Inc. created the world's first commercially available PUF only few years ago. Toppan Printing Co., Ltd., has since integrated Verayo's ICs into radio frequency identification (RFID) tags in order to develop...
