Abstract Effects of wilting, ensiling and type additive on α‐tocopherol β‐carotene contents in legume–grass mixtures were examined. Swards birdsfoot trefoil + timothy (Bft Ti), red clover (Rc Ti) meadow fescue Mf) harvested as a first regrowth August 2005. Forage was wilted to dry‐matter (DM) content 273 g kg −1 ensiled without or with an inoculant acid. Wilting decreased concentration by 30% the Bft Ti mixture ( P = 0·015). Untreated silage had higher than silages (56·9 vs. 34·2 mg DM; The...
Use of synthetic feed additives, including vitamin D 3 (D ) in the for cows and other ruminants, is not consistent with international principles organic farming. If dairy farmers wish to produce accordance principles, production animals would be left only their endogenous from summer sunlight as a source . To examine impact supplemental on status cattle Nordic countries, 20 high-yielding 30 steers were divided into two groups: one supplemented Vitamin was assessed by measuring concentration...
Native galactoglucomannans (GGMs), which were isolated from thermomechanical pulping waters of Norway spruce, modified through cationization, carboxymethylation, and imination at the reducing end with a primary long-chain hydrocarbon amine. The derivatives tested for their papermaking properties. native GGMs increased wet tensile strength as result dispersion fibrils in fibre web. In wood-containing paper, retention fines extractives without decrease paper strength. also flocculated fillers...
Abstract Speed of paper machines is often limited by the drainage rate furnish and mechanical properties wet web, i.e. tension relaxation properties. In this study, effects alteration fibre fines content gentle harsh refining on dewatering as well dry web were determined. Both types or addition prolonged time but also improved Harsh with much cutting resulted in longer time, lower after pressing higher density sheets than external/internal fibrillation fibres. Removal shortened decreased...
The interactions between colloidal wood pitch and various commercially available mineral particles were assessed. The experiments conducted by adding PCC, GCC, kaolin, bentonite to laboratory-made emulsions, the mixtures analyzed using flow cytometry. The results showed that most of tested minerals quite hydrophilic. The hydrophobicity increased significantly in presence pitch, which surfaces occurred. The charge was very important; pitch-mineral populations formed with cationic more hydrophobic...
(1) Background: it is only the longer chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs), eicosapentaenoic acid (20:5n-3, EPA), and docosahexaenoic (22:6n-3, DHA) not shorter α-linolenic (ALA, 18:3n-3) that have been linked to health benefits. (2) Methods: 45 dogs divided into three groups were first given premium dry food for 38 days (baseline). The O3I was then used as a diagnostic tool provide measure of sum EPA + DHA in red blood cell membranes percentage all acids. subsequently fed...
Abstract α‐Tocopherol and β‐carotene concentrations were measured in herbage of birdsfoot trefoil (Bft), red clover (Rc), white (Wc), timothy (Ti) perennial ryegrass (Pr) grown four mixtures (Bft+Ti, Rc+Ti, Rc+Pr Wc+Pr) a small‐plot field experiment at Foulum, Denmark, over 2 years. Plots fertilized with cattle slurry harvested four‐cut system: 30 May/7 June, 5 July/12 July, 22 August/21 August 24 October/9 October 2005/2006. Bft was the legume highest α‐tocopherol concentration most...
Vaccination status is conventionally measured by up-to-date coverage. This method does not take in to account whether the vaccines were received at correct age and interval which essential for optimal disease protection. Sri Lanka – a lower middle-income country Indian Ocean, has previously presented with high vaccination coverage all childhood vaccines. However, few studies investigating timeliness of vaccinations have until now been carried out Lanka. Aim: study was investigate individual...
