Optical emission of plasma induced by a pulsed laser ablating the surface randomly packed granular (RPG) material in air is investigated experimentally, taking sieved copper microspheres with discrete diameters, d, ranging from 49 to 390 \textmu{}m as examples. We find steplike phenomenon (also called critical-like phenomenon) dependence on grain size: when d less than critical size, only weak emissions are detected; however, exceeds abruptly become at least 5 times stronger. Such can be...

We present a velocity-map imaging (VMI) apparatus coupled with magneto-optical trap (MOT) of 87Rb atoms designed for low-energy photo-ion spectroscopy. The VMI-electrode geometry uses three-electrode configuration, and the focusing electric field is optimized based on systematic simulations relatively ions. To calibrate apparatus, we use resonant two-color two-photon ionization rubidium as Doppler-selected This VMI system provides an accuracy 0.15 m/s resolution 7.5 photoions speeds below...

Hot C(60) molecules under nanosecond laser excitation decay by a variety of fragmentation channels. An experimental search has been made to determine the temperature fragmented C(60)via analyzing momentum distributions prompt ionic fragments C(n)(+) (n ≤ 58). It was found that all precursors appearing as these have almost same and shows little variation with fluences in our limited range. The results provide clear evidence first-order phase transition is occurring at this temperature. value...

In collisions between slow F2+ ions (30 keV) and molecular targets, adenine, scattered particle production yields have been measured directly by simultaneous detection of neutrals, positive negative ions. The relative cross-section for a ion formation channel was to be 1%. Despite slight decrease compared larger target, the fullerene C60, cross section is still at least one order magnitude than yield in ion–atom interactions.
