This article tests effectively maintained inequality theory against the case of China. Employing Chinese College Student Survey data from 2012, study elaborates on rationale and causes behind expansion higher education over last two decades impact this has had system. Rather than empowering disadvantaged students, findings show that fails to reduce inequity in China, particular providing low socio-economic status students access elite universities obtaining good positions job market.
Abstract Using a sample of 1674 international students in China, the present study explores sociocultural adaptation and its determinants. The results indicate that among China is largely shaped by nature interaction with host nationals. In particular, students, those who experienced higher levels social nationals received more support were better poised for adaptation. This article examines the origins of China's vocational education system and restructuring since 1980, finding that this thirty-year systemic was based on a framework instrumental rationalism, but did not connect effectively with building modern enterprise system.
