Recent years have seen various reviews on the lack of access to radiotherapy often based geographic regions world such as Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America and North America. Countries are defined by their national income per capita levels World Bank definitions high income, upper middle lower low income. Within regions, there significant variations in gross (GNI) among different countries, even within similar levels, large exist. This report presents actual status analyses current...

Radiotherapy technology continues to advance and the expectation of improved outcomes requires greater accuracy in various radiotherapy steps. Different factors affect overall dose delivery. Institutional comprehensive quality assurance (QA) programs should ensure that uncertainties are maintained at acceptable levels. The International Atomic Energy Agency has recently developed a report summarizing achievable suggested action levels, for each step process. Overview report: seeks promote...

Two new Fricke dosimeter gel systems with low diffusion rates have been developed for 3D radiation dosimetry purposes. Both consist of a solution 20% (by weight) polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) in 50 mM H2 SO4solution 0.4 ferrous ammonium sulphate and xylenol orange (FX). The difference the two gels is way that gelation process was initiated: either by bringing temperature to (a) +5 °C or (b) -20 before returning them room temperature. These are termed `hydrogel' `cryogel', respectively. hydrogel...

With increasing recognition of growing cancer incidence globally, efficient means expanding radiotherapy capacity is imperative, and understanding the factors impacting human financial needs valuable.A time-driven activity-based costing analysis was performed, using a base case 2-machine departments, with defined cost inputs operating parameters. Four income groups were analysed, ranging from low to high income. Scenario analyses included department size, hours, fractionation, treatment...

The January 2010 articles in New York Times generated intense focus on patient safety radiation treatment, with physics staffing identified frequently as a critical factor for consistent quality assurance. purpose of this work is to review our experience medical staffing, and propose transparent flexible algorithm general use. Guided by documented times required per routine procedure, we have developed robust estimate needs according center-specific workload physicists associated support...
