It is now generally accepted that the nigrostriatal degenerative properties of parkinsonian-inducing agent 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine are mediated by brain monoamine oxidase B generated 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium metabolite (MPP+). In this article, results described ongoing efforts to evaluate MPP(+)-type neurotoxic potential haloperidol (HP)-derived pyridinium HPP+, a 1,4-disubstituted structural analog MPP+, which formed in humans and rats treated with HP. Embryonic development in Japanese long-fingered bats proceeded very slowly during and after the delayed implantation period (mid-October to mid-December). The primitive amniotic cavity endoderm were formed before implantation. At preimplantation stage (before hibernation) corpus luteum cells appeared active, but became less active at (in hibernation). Activity was again apparent early placentation (after arousal).

In the Japanese long-fingered bat, when compared with baseline values during non-pregnancy in autumn, plasma progesterone concentrations were not significantly elevated delayed implantation stage that begins before bats enter hibernation. However, lower development occurs hibernation and rose rapid embryogenesis after arousal from spring. Changes corpus luteum volume corresponded closely those of values. Maintenance gravid females at 25 degrees C for 2 weeks winter resulted significant...

Gravid female Japanese long-fingered bats were kept in captivity without hibernation at elevated temperatures (23-25 degrees C) winter. The embryonic growth rate was accelerated and consequently parturition advanced by a period equivalent to that of exclusion from as compared with the wild population. corpus luteum became active, indicated an increase 'light' lutein cells experimental bat pregnant 15-mm embryo, but less active (more 'dark' cells) 2 hibernating control implanting blastocyst.

The phylogenetic relationships of the families Cheilodactylidae and Latridae, plus related taxa, are examined from a detailed osteological perspective. monophyly each family is re-evaluated new classification proposed on basis relationships. A analysis characters in 67 transformation series showed Latridae to comprise monophyletic group nested within cheilodactylids. was non-monophyletic, but rather formed by clade including Cheilodactylus fasciatus C. pixi having sister relationship with...

Tracking migration of highly migratory marine fish using isotope analysis (iso-logging) has become a promising tool in recent years. Four specimens (151–156 mm in standard length) of Beryx mollis Abe, 1959 were collected from the Nazca Ridge, southeastern Pacific Ocean. Comparison with other regions reveals geographical variations some meristic characters species.
