A new uranoscopid fish, Ichthyscopus pollicaris sp. nov., is described from East Asia waters around Taiwan and Japan. It can be distinguished other congeners in having the ventral midline of belly forming 3 prominent prolonged skin flaps, its posterior nostril oval to circular shape, pectoral-fin base lacking distinct blotches, uppermost ray adjacent interspace membrane with 1 or 2 white spots. The biogeography I. discussed.

Phthalate esters and phosphate flame retardants plasticizers (PFRs) are both used as commonly detected in indoor environments. Although phthalates PFRs known to be associated with children's wheeze allergic symptoms, there have been no previous studies examining the effects of mixtures these exposures. To investigate association between exposure phthalate PFRs, symptoms among school-aged children. A total 128 elementary children were enrolled. Metabolites 3 7 measured urine samples....

Nonequilibrium indentation simulations for two-dimensional crystals composed of up to 1036 800=720\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}1440 atoms are described. The forces used include smoothly truncated Lennard-Jones force laws, both with and without added embedded-atom contributions typical copper or nickel. Both low intermediate temperatures considered over a wide range indentor speeds. Typical microhardness yield strengths these materials, divided by projected area, exceed 10% the shear...

This study was conducted to assess inter-species and inter-individual differences in the metabolism of di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) humans mice. The activities four DEHP-metabolizing enzymes [lipase, UDP-glucuronocyltransferase (UGT), alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH), aldehyde (ALDH)] were measured livers 38 human subjects various ages eight 129/Sv male mice.Microsomal lipase activity significantly lower than mice. The V max/K m value one-seventh that mice, microsomal UGT a sixth cytosolic...

Exposure to phthalates and phosphorus flame retardants (PFRs) is considered be a risk factor for asthma allergies. However, little known about the contribution of loss-of-function mutations in gene encoding filaggrin (FLG) gene, which are predisposing factors eczema asthma, these associations. We investigated associations between exposure PFRs dust eczema/wheeze among Japanese children, taking into consideration FLG. This study was part Hokkaido on Environment Children's Health. The study determined concentrations of and estimated human exposure to house dust-ingested phthalates from 99 homes in Bangkok, Thailand. Phthalates dust collected using a handheld vacuum cleaner was analyzed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry revealing median content 3,477 µg g-1, range 753-13,810 with di-2-ethylhexylphthalate (DEHP) having the highest level (median = 1,739 467-8,172 g-1) followed di-iso-nonyl phthalate (DiNP) 611 15.2-11,052 g-1). DEHP multi-family apartments...

Examination of the type series Lestidiumjaponica Tanaka reveals that generally accepted concept this species does not accord with series. A historical review literature showed characterization L.japonica changed over time, and what has been recognized as "L.japonica" for more than 70 years actually represents a distinct different species. Among junior synonyms "L.japonica", Paralepisphilippinus Fowler, 1934 is resurrected valid herein in new combination, Lestrolepisphilippina....
