Abstract An acute tick-borne rickettsiosis caused by Rickettsia heilongjiangensis was diagnosed in 13 patients from the Russian Far East 2002. We amplified and sequenced four portions of three rickettsial genes patients' skin biopsy results blood samples showed that belong to R. heilongjiangensis, which recently isolated Dermacentor sylvarum ticks nearby regions China. This rickettsia, belonging subgroup japonica, previously suggested be pathogenic for humans on basis serologic findings....
In this study, tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) viruses from Siberia and far-eastern Asia were characterized in order to determine virus subtype distribution. TBE isolated ticks ( Ixodes persulcatus ) collected the (Khabarovsk Vladivostok) Siberian (Irkutsk) regions of Russia 1999. Phylogenetic analysis showed that isolates formed distinct clusters subtypes. There was also a minor difference antigenicity between Irkutsk other strains, as demonstrated by reactivity monoclonal antibodies. Amino...
Two hantavirus strains, MF43 and MF113, isolated from Microtus fortis trapped in the Khabarovsk region of far-eastern Russia, were analysed by direct nucleotide sequencing PCR generated fragments M S segments, immunofluorescence focus reduction neutralization tests (FRNT). The sequences revealed that two isolates closely related to each other but distinct all hantaviruses. Phylogenetic analysis segments showed MF strains form a separate branch Hantavirus tree, positioned between branches...
We have previously reported that tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) is endemic in a specific area of Hokkaido, Japan. In Oshima, the southern part TBE virus was isolated from sentinel dogs, ticks and rodents 1995 1996. To identify when these viruses emerged times divergence strains Oshima far-eastern Russia were estimated. Khabarovsk 1998 nucleotide sequences viral envelope protein genes isolates compared. From synonymous substitution rate strains, lineage time predicted phylogenetically to be...
Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato (s.l.) DNA was detected by PCR in Ixodes persulcatus Schulze, 1930, Haemaphysalis concinna Koch, 1844, japonica douglasi Nuttall et Warburton, 1915 and Dermacentor silvarum Olenev, 1932 ticks collected the Amur region, Jewish Autonomous Sakhalin region on Khabarovsk territory. Infection rate of I. with B. s.l. 10–69% exceeded corresponding values three other tick species all examined regions during 1999–2014 despite different abundance dominance structure....
Abstract: We recently reported the first documented cases of a new rickettsial disease caused by Rickettsia heilongjiangensis in Russian Far East (Far Eastern tick‐borne rickettsiosis). Here we report amplification DNA R. from both skin biopsy an acutely ill patient and tick removed him prior to development. The has been identified as Haemaphysalis spp. clinical picture was that spotted fever group rickettsiosis seroconversion noted with antigen . Screening testing species ticks inhabiting...
The specimens of 3552 questing adult Ixodes persulcatus and 1698 blood/tissue samples small mammals collected in Ural, Siberia, Far East Russia were assayed for the presence Anaplasma phagocytophilum by nested PCR based on 16S rRNA gene. Totally, A. was detected 112 tick 88 mammalian samples. nucleotide sequences gene groESL operon (1244-1295 bp) determined from 65 ticks 25 mammals. Six different variants differing 1-5 substitutions detected, only one variant matched deposited GenBank....
Twenty female imago of Haemaphysalis concinnae ticks collected from wild vegetation in May 2001 the Obor region near Khabarovsk Russian Far East were studied. DNA was extracted with commercially available kits following manufacturer's instructions. We used broad range primers SFG3 and SFG6 proposed for amplification 16S ribosomal RNA gene's portion spotted fever group Rickettsia. Initial resulted positive results all 20 ticks. Direct sequencing five randomly chosen amplicons showed that...
A bstract : potentially broad‐range PCR system for gltA gene amplification has been designed. nearly full (992 bp) sequence of the was amplified in two steps. DNA extracted from organs (spleen and liver) four mostly spread species rodents: Apodemus agrarius peninsulae mice; Clethrionomys rufocanus Microtus fortis voles. All amplicons have sequenced. The incidence Bartonella rodents 73%, 60%, 83% above‐mentioned rodents, respectively. Several genotypes identified, including close to B....
Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) is a serious public health issue in Far East Russia. Two different hantaviruses were isolated from rodents captured the Khabarovsk region: Amur virus (AMRV; Khekhtsir/AP209/2005 strain Apodemus peninsulae ) and Hantaan (HTNV; Galkino/AA57/2002 A. agrarius ). Genetic analysis of new isolates revealed that M L segments apparently between AMRV HTNV, but S two viruses closer. The antigenicities AMRV, Seoul (SEOV) differentiated by...
West Nile (WN) virus has been spreading geographically to non-endemic areas in various parts of the world. However, little is known about extent WN infection Russia. Japanese encephalitis (JE) virus, which closely related prevalent throughout East Asia. We evaluated effectiveness a focus reduction neutralization test young chicks inoculated with JE and viruses, conducted survey among wild birds Far Eastern Following single infection, only neutralizing antibodies specific homologous were...
Abstract In an epizootiologic survey of 122 rodents captured in Vladivostok, Russia, antibodies positive for hantavirus were found Apodemus peninsulae (4/70), A. agrarius (1/39), and Clethrionomys rufocanus (1/8). The sequences identified two seropositive patients with hemorrhagic fever renal syndrome (HFRS) from the Primorye region Far East Russia designated as Solovey Primorye, respectively. nucleotide Solovey, Amur (obtained through GenBank) closely related (>92% identity). shared 84%...
Borrelia spirochetes were isolated from the adult ixodid tick (Ixodes persulcatus) in three areas of far eastern Russia, namely, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. infective rates ticks those 24.5, 41.4, 25.1%, respectively (total rate was 26.6%). Spirochetes also tissues small mammals captured at Khabarovsk (infective 20.8%). Samples classified by rRNA gene restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis. The mainly RFLP ribotype group IV (B. garinii), followed groups...
