Hyperspectral imaging (HSI) of tissue samples in the mid-infrared (mid-IR) range provides spectro-chemical and structure information at sub-cellular spatial resolution. Disease states can be directly assessed by analyzing mid-IR spectra different cell types (e.g., epithelial cells) components nuclei), provided that we accurately classify pixels belonging to these components. The challenge is extract from hundreds noisy bands each pixel, where band not very informative itself, making...

The importance of stroma as a rich diagnostic region in tissue biopsies is growing there an increasing understanding that disease processes multiple organs can affect the composition adjacent connective regions. This may be especially true liver, since this organ's central metabolic role exposes it to processes. We use quantum cascade laser infrared spectroscopic imaging study changes chemical status hepatocytes and fibrotic regions liver result from progression cirrhosis hepatocellular...

High-definition Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopic imaging is an emerging approach to obtain detailed images that have associated biochemical information. FT-IR of tissue based on the principle different regions mid-infrared are absorbed by chemical bonds (e.g., C=O, C-H, N-H) within cells or can then be related presence and composition biomolecules lipids, DNA, glycogen, protein, collagen). In image, every pixel image comprises entire (IR) spectrum give information status...

Renal transplants have not seen a significant improvement in their 10-year graft life. Chronic damage accumulation often leads to interstitial fibrosis and tubular atrophy (IF/TA) thus function loss over time. For this reason, IF/TA has been the chief suspect for potential prognostic marker long term outcomes. In study, we used infrared spectroscopic (IR) imaging interrogate biochemistry of regions from renal transplant biopsies identify biochemical signature that can predict rapid...

Cholecystectomy is the gold standard surgical treatment for acute calculous cholecystitis. Only approximately 0.4 % of these patients subsequently develop choledocholithiasis. The incidence hepatic abscesses in unknown, but likely low, considering there are 2–15 cases per 100,000 people US. authors report case a 62-year-old man whose CT scan revealed secondary to choledocholithiasis, eight years after cholecystectomy.

Cancer of the urachus is very unusual. The lesion a mucosecretory adenocarcinoma. diagnosis usually established late, and has serious prognosis because long clinical latency. We report case metastatic adenocarcinoma revealed by hematuria. A review literature allows us to demonstrate rarity this tumour its various clinical, histological, radiological therapeutical aspects.

Quantum Cascade Laser (QCL) spectroscopic imaging is a novel technique with many potential applications to histopathology. Like traditional Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) imaging, QCL derives biochemical data coupled the spatial information of tissue sample, and can be used improve diagnostic prognostic value assessment biopsy. This also offers advantages over FT-IR specifically capacity for discrete frequency real-time imaging. In this work we present samples, including compare its pathology.

Objectives: To determine the rate and timing of return to NFL play after a shoulder instability event what factors predict ability Return Play (RTP). Methods: A total 83 players who sustained an in-season while playing in were identified evaluated. play, incidence surgery, time return, recurrent events, seasons games played injury, demographic data collected. Overall RTP was determined had surgery compared those did not have surgery. Playing with age, position, size experience matched...

Background. Antibody-mediated rejection (AMR) in cardiac allograft recipients remains less well-understood than acute cellular rejection, is associated with worse outcomes, and portends a greater risk of developing chronic vasculopathy. Diffuse immunohistochemical C4d staining capillary endothelia formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded right ventricular endomyocardial biopsies diagnostic immunopathologic AMR but serves more as late-stage marker. Infrared (IR) spectroscopy may be useful tool...

Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopic imaging can allow for the rapid of tissue biochemistry in a label-free and non-perturbing fashion. With adoption new minimally invasive surgery (MIS) technologies over last 20 years, adequate skill to safely effectively use these may not be achieved risk undue physical pressure being placed on tissues is concern. Previous work has demonstrated that number histological stains detect damage, however, this process requires initiation progression...
