Abstract: Background: Promising data regarding the safety and efficacy of gastric bypass surgery (GBS) as an option to address obesity in transplant population are emerging. The lack on how GBS may alter pharmacokinetics (PK) modern immunosuppression. objective this study was describe alterations PK immunosuppressants population. Methods: Data presented six subjects who participated trial – four were dialysis two renal recipients. Dialysis‐dependent received a single dose 6 mg sirolimus,...

Background. The first generic tacrolimus product gained Food and Drug Administration approval in August 2009. This prospective, observational trial sought to determine the need for dose titrations measure drug cost savings on conversion tacrolimus. Methods. Transplant recipients stable doses were converted from brand a mg:mg basis. Data collected at time of (study arm) point exactly 6 months before (control all subjects. Results. Seventy conversions four centers are reported. Subjects mean...

Abstract Background Many persons with HIV (PWH) are excluded as kidney transplants (KT) recipients due to guidelines recommending pre-transplant CD4 counts > 200 cells/mL. Historically, this threshold has been suggested concern for increased rates of infection among patients lower counts, however, it not rigorously studied and may be unnecessarily stringent leading exclusion otherwise acceptable organ candidates. Methods We performed a multicenter, retrospective cohort study...

West Nile virus infection has been spreading westward across the continental United States since 1999. Although it often presents as a mild, self-limiting viral illness, can result in devastating meningoencephalitis some patient populations, particularly elderly. We report this article on two immunosuppressed transplant patients who developed severe caused by mosquito-borne infection. Suggestions for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of population are described.

In Brief Background Despite proven efficacy of prolonged cytomegalovirus (CMV) prophylaxis using valganciclovir 900 mg/day, some centers use 450 mg/day due to reported success and cost savings. This multicenter, retrospective study compared the safety 6 months low-dose versus high-dose in high-risk, donor-positive/recipient-negative, renal transplant recipients (RTR). Methods Two hundred thirty-seven high-risk RTR (low-dose group = [n 130]; s7]) were evaluated for 1-year CMV disease...

The practice of transplanting hepatitis C (HCV)-infected livers into HCV-uninfected recipients has not previously been recommended in transplant guidelines, part because concerns over uncontrolled HCV infection the allograft. Direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) provide an opportunity to treat donor-derived HCV-infection and should be administered early posttransplant period. However, evidence on safety efficacy immediate DAA treatment approach, including how manage logistical barriers...

Background. Weight gain is a known complication of corticosteroid maintenance therapy. The purpose the present study was to compare patterns weight under chronic therapy (CCST) with that observed early (i.e., within 7 days posttransplant) withdrawal (CSWD) in renal-transplant recipients. Methods. Renal-transplant recipients who underwent CSWD four prospective, institutional review board-approved clinical trials were compared historic control group patients receiving CCST. Results. Abstract: The long‐term use of calcineurin inhibitors (CNI) leads to renal dysfunction in many liver transplant (LT) recipients. purpose this analysis is evaluate function patients converted from CNI sirolimus (SRL). From May 2002–November 2006, 137 LT were performed 125 patients, 72 which SRL. Evaluation SRL conversion was stratified by early (<90 d LT) (EC) vs. late (LC). Abstract Introduction During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) pandemic, transplant centers were challenged to meet demand for new telemedicine strategies. The ability of lung providers (LTP) conduct face‐to‐face clinic visits high‐risk immunocompromised patients, such as recipients (LTR), was limited. Through implementation comprehensive medication management visits, pharmacists able assist LTP in transition telemedicine. Methods A retrospective chart review telephone encounters from...
