Abstract Background Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine have been found to be efficient on SARS-CoV-2, reported in Chinese COV-19 patients. We evaluate the role of respiratory viral loads. Patients methods were included a single arm protocol receive 600mg daily their load nasal swabs was tested daily. Depending clinical presentation, azithromycin added treatment. Untreated patients from another center cases refusing as negative controls. Presence absence virus at Day6-post inclusion...

Abstract Metagenomics revolutionized the understanding of relations among human microbiome, health and diseases, but generated a countless number sequences that have not been assigned to known microorganism 1 . The pure culture prokaryotes, neglected in recent decades, remains essential elucidating role these organisms 2 We recently introduced microbial culturomics, culturing approach uses multiple conditions matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization–time flight 16S rRNA for identification...

Circulating autoantibodies (auto-Abs) neutralizing high concentrations (10 ng/mL, in plasma diluted 1 to 10) of IFN-α and/or -ω are found about 10% patients with critical COVID-19 pneumonia, but not subjects asymptomatic infections. We detect auto-Abs 100-fold lower, more physiological, (100 pg/mL, 1/10 dilutions plasma) 13.6% 3,595 COVID-19, including 21% 374 > 80 years, and 6.5% 522 severe COVID-19. These antibodies also detected 18% the 1,124 deceased (aged 20 days-99 years; mean: 70...

During the past 5 years, matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry (MS) has become a powerful tool for routine identification in many clinical laboratories. We analyzed our 11-year experience isolates (40 months using MALDI-TOF MS and 91 conventional phenotypic [CPI]). Among 286,842 clonal isolates, 284,899 459 species were identified. The remaining 1,951 misidentified required confirmation second 670 molecular technique 1,273 339 species....

Severe acute malnutrition (SAM) is associated with inadequate diet, low levels of plasma antioxidants and gut microbiota alterations. The link between redox microbial alterations, however, remains unexplored. By sequencing the microbiomes 79 children varying nutritional status from three centers in Senegal Niger, we found a dramatic depletion obligate anaerobes malnutrition. This was confirmed an individual patient data meta-analysis including 107 cases 77 controls 5 different African Asian...

Significance There is growing evidence that preexisting autoantibodies neutralizing type I interferons (IFNs) are strong determinants of life-threatening COVID-19 pneumonia. It important to estimate their quantitative impact on mortality upon SARS-CoV-2 infection, by age and sex, as both the prevalence these risk death increase with higher in men. Using an unvaccinated sample 1,261 deceased patients 34,159 individuals from general population, we found against IFNs strongly increased...
