Abstract The DESI Legacy Imaging Surveys ( http://legacysurvey.org/ ) are a combination of three public projects (the Dark Energy Camera Survey, the Beijing–Arizona Sky and Mayall z -band Survey) that will jointly image ≈14,000 deg 2 extragalactic sky visible from northern hemisphere in optical bands g , r using telescopes at Kitt Peak National Observatory Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory. combined survey footprint is split into two contiguous areas by Galactic plane. imaging...
This work presents the application of a new tool, Obiwan , which uses image simulations to determine selection function galaxy redshift survey and calculate 3-dimensional (3D) clustering statistics. is forward model process by images night sky are transformed into 3D large--scale structure catalog. The photometric pipeline automatically detects models galaxies then generates catalog such with detailed information for each one them, including their location, so on. Systematic biases in...
We mapped 12CO and 13CO J = 2-1 emission over 1.04 square deg of the Serpens molecular cloud with 38 arcsec spatial 0.3 km/s spectral resolution using Arizona Radio Observatory Heinrich Hertz Submillimeter telescope. Our maps resolve kinematic properties for entire cloud. also compare our velocity moment known positions Young Stellar Objects (YSOs) 1.1 mm continuum emission. find that is self-absorbed optically thick in core. Outside core, gas appears filamentary structures having LSR...
In recent years there has been increasing use of HPC facilities for HEP experiments. This initially focussed on less I/O intensive workloads such as generator-level or detector simulation. We now demonstrate the efficient running I/O-heavy analysis at NERSC, ATLAS and ALICE LHC collaborations well astronomical image DESI BOSS.
Abstract The Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument Legacy Surveys, a combination of three ground-based imaging surveys, have mapped 16,000 deg 2 in optical bands ( g , r and z ) to depth 1–2 mag deeper than the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. Our work addresses one major challenges wide-field surveys conducted at observatories: varying that results from observing conditions Earth-bound sites. To mitigate these effects, Surveys (the Camera Survey, or DECaLS; Mayall -band MzLS; Beiijing-Arizona BASS)...
