We describe the Milky Way Survey (MWS) that will be undertaken with Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) on Mayall 4m telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory. Over next 5 yr DESI MWS observe approximately seven million stars Galactic latitudes |b|>20 degrees, an inclusive target selection scheme focused thick disk and stellar halo. also include several high-completeness samples of rare types, including white dwarfs, low-mass within 100pc Sun, horizontal branch stars. summarize...
The Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument Milky Way Survey (DESI MWS) will explore the assembly history of by characterising remnants ancient dwarf galaxy accretion events and improving constraints on distribution dark matter in outer halo. We present mock catalogues that reproduce selection criteria MWS format final data set. These can be used to test methods for quantifying properties stellar halo substructure reconstructing Way's with data, including effects halo-to-halo variance. are...
ABSTRACT The UV upturn refers to the increase in flux at wavelengths shorter than 3000 $\mathring{\rm A}$ observed quiescent early-type galaxies (ETGs), which still remains a puzzle. In this study, we aim identify ETGs showing phenomenon within Virgo galaxy cluster. We utilized colour–colour diagram all potential possible galaxies. spectral energy distributions (SED) of these were then analysed using cigale software; confirmed presence found that SED fitting method is best tool visualize and...
