Collaboration is an important application area for virtual reality (VR). However, unlike in the real world, collaboration VR misses empathetic cues that can make collaborators aware of each other's emotional states. Providing physiological feedback, such as heart rate or respiration rate, to users has been shown create a positive impact single user environments. In this paper, through rigorous mixed-factorial experiment, we evaluated how providing feedback influences their three different...

Related research has shown that collaborating with Intelligent Virtual Agents (IVAs) embodied in Augmented Reality (AR) or (VR) can improve task performance and reduce load. Human cognition behaviors are controlled by brain activities, which be captured reflected Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. However, little been done to understand users’ using EEG while interacting IVAs AR VR environments. In this paper, we investigate the impact of virtual agent’s multimodal communication on signals...

The successful gas hydrate expedition from Shenhu area in the northern South China Sea,provides an opportunity to study influence of methane on benthic foraminifera and their stable isotopic composition. In this study, benthic carbon isotopes hole BY3 were reported. The results show there has no obvious distinction assemblage composition between hydrate-bearing sediments non-gas sediments. The isotope analyses species(Uvigerina spp.,Cibicides spp.and Oridorsalis spp.)reveal a sediments.Uvigerina...

Studying and working in Virtual Reality (VR) provides an immersive experience enables free body movement for input. However, poor posture VR can result discomfort even lead to musculoskeletal problems over time. In this work, we explore how use Mediapipe Blazepose provide effective real-time ergonomic guidance methods a virtual office environment using (1) auditory, (2) visual, (3) combined auditory-visual cues. We do within-subject design user study comparing these three conditions baseline...

Cold-water corals (CWCs) are frequently found at cold seep areas. However, the relationship between fluid seepage and CWC development is not clear. Here, for first time, we report occurrences, species identification, mineralogy, carbon oxygen isotopes, as well elemental compositions of fossil skeletons from gas-hydrate-bearing sediment in drilling cores South China Sea (SCS). Three sites (GMGS-08, GMGS-09B, GMGS-16) were investigated but CWCs only one site (GMGS-09B). Interestingly, three...

This work presents a Mixed Reality (MR)-based asynchronous hybrid cross reality collaborative system which supports recording and playback of user actions in three-dimensional task space at different periods time. Using this system, an expert can record process such as virtual object placement or assembly, then be viewed by other users either Augmented (AR) Virtual (VR) views later points time to complete the task. Combining dead reckoning and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) ranging information to achieve relative localization (RL) becomes prevalent in recent years. However, two main problems, i.e., pose initialization distributed implementation, are rarely investigated practical multi-robot systems. In this paper, a novel two-stage RL method is proposed fill gap, wherein an strategy, using robot-to-robot measurements acquired at different vantage points during robot motion determine initial pose, consensus-based...

Abstract A benthic foraminiferal proxy record of 290 kyr, acquired from Core SH7B in the northern continental slope South China Sea, was studied to identify bottom-water environment changes since marine isotope stage (MIS) 8. The changes, including oxygenation and types organic matter flux seafloor, reflect palaeoproductivity fluctuations linked monsoon variability. Four assemblages, characterizing different palaeoenvironmental have been recognized by factor cluster analysis with 32 species...

When people interact with virtual characters, the character's non-verbal cues can change user's perception of and engagement it. In this work, we investigate impact agent locomotion emotional posture on user engagement, as measured by subjective questionnaires EEG signals. We found EEG-based index was significantly lower in postural condition, which opposite to questionnaire-based result. From these results, differentiate social from task discuss their influence overall perceived engagement.

In recent years, there has been a growing body of research at the intersection Mixed Reality (MR), Empathic Computing (EC), and agent technologies. Despite this trend, unified theoretical framework to guide such remains elusive. This paper introduces concept Agents (EMiRAs), emerging from convergence Agent (EA), (MiRA), (EMR). We present Corporeal Presence Interactive Capacity (CPIC) matrix as tool for examining EMiRAs-related studies, enabling systematic exploration agents' embodiment...

Non-verbal cues like locomotion and posture influence users' perceptions of Mixed Reality Agents (MiRAs). While Electroencephalography (EEG) captures cognitive responses, the MiRAs' postures on brain activity remains underexplored. Additionally, few studies integrate subjective behavioral measures with EEG to evaluate these cues' impact social perception. To address this, we conducted a within-subject study where participants played Gobang against three virtual agents in mixed reality: 1)...
