Types of five the six Plecoptera species described by Émile Blanchard and holotype single stonefly Jules François Mabille were discovered in National Museum Prague, Czech Republic. The identity P. myrmidon Mabille, 1891 pictetii Blanchard, 1854 are confirmed as Potamoperla Pictetoperla gayi (Pictet, 1841), respectively. Perla virescentipennis 1851 is considered Diamphipnopsis comb. n., with Diamphipnosis samali Illies, 1960 syn. n. a junior subjective synonym, Diamphipnoa chillanae nom....
Phidon chanco sp. nov. is the first species of genus where both sexes are described Male and female genitalia illustrated using SEM. The new can be distinguished from other members genus, by existence brachypterism in sexes; males median triangle sternum IX long, sclerotised, its apex strongly armed with numerous denticles; females tergite X emarginate. distributed exclusively coastal forests central Chile, association remnants native flora protected areas.
Abstract Chile's isolation and varied climates have driven the evolution of a unique biodiversity with high degree endemism. As result, Chile encompasses diverse environments, including Mediterranean‐type ecosystem, global hotspot. These environments are currently threatened by anthropogenic land use change impacting integrity local biomes associated species. This area is most intensively sampled in country endemicity native bee Characterizing habitat requirements bees pressing priority to...
We present a phylogenetic analysis that includes all known species of Agathemera, using as outgroup four the genera Heteronemia, Spinonemia, Monticomorpha, and Anisomorpha. Phylogenetic inference was based on three genes, 16S, COI (mitochondrial markers) H3 (nuclear marker), maximum-parsimony, maximum-likelihood Bayesian methods. Our results show genus Agathemera is monophyletic; six its eight showed support, while group A. claraziana + millepunctata not resolved. The resulting topology...
Wild cockroaches are often described as abundant and diverse insects from wet tropical zones; however, they can also be found in arid semiarid areas. It is proposed that these drier environments cockroach survival may dependent on its tight association with native plant species. In this work, using bait trapping active collection methods, we surveyed species along central Chile coastal scrubland; the southern limit of Mediterranean Matorral biome Neotropical Region (32° S). Based...
Native bees contribute a considerable portion of pollination services for endemic as well introduced plant species. Their decline has been attributed to several human-derived influences including global warming the reduction, alteration, and loss bees’ habitat. With human expansion comes along introduction exotic species with negative impacts over native ecosystems. Anthropic effects may even have deeper impact on communities adapted extreme environments, such high elevation habitats, where...
RESUMENSe describe una nueva especie de Gripopterygidae: Gripopteryginae (sensu McLellan 1977) para Chile, Potamoperla testacea n. sp.distribuida entre las regiones Séptima y Undécima.Se dan a conocer ambos sexos
High-altitude ecosystems are found in mountain chains and plateaus worldwide. These areas tend to be underrepresented insect biodiversity assessments because of the challenges related systematic survey at these elevations, such as extreme climatic geographic conditions. Nonetheless, high-altitude paramount importance they have been seen species pumps for other areas, adjacent locations, functioning buffers population declines. Moreover, their proposed fast-responding indicators impacts...
Chilenoperla puelche n. sp. is described based on male and female adults one nymph. The wing color pattern the gen-italia of are diagnostic clearly distinguishing it from other species genus. However, nymph similar tothat C. elongata Vera. This new distributed in Andes Mountains Chile 38° to 39° south latitude; Adults were collected September November.
Morphology of Phasmatodea eggs is remarkably diverse and highly valuable in taxonomic research. Two alterative hypotheses have been proposed to describe the phylogenetic relationship species from genus Agathemera Stål. Additionally, descriptions egg morphology within done based on two species. This small sample size does not represent along genus, thus we attempt all known The main goal present study determine whether evolution occurred through either divergent or convergent evolution. We...
An essential prerequisite to safeguard pollinator species is characterisation of the multifaceted diversity crop pollinators, and identification drivers community changes across biogeographical gradients. The extent which intensive agriculture associated with homogenisation biological communities at large spatial scales remains poorly understood. In this study, we investigated relationships between different bee for 644 species/morphospecies in 177 commercial apple orchards 33 countries four...
Abstract Chile’s isolation and varied climates have driven the evolution of a unique biodiversity with high degree endemism. The Mediterranean-type biome Central Chile is one 35 global hotspots has been highlighted as most endangered areas. It threatened by anthropogenic land use change impacting integrity local biomes associated species. This area holds extensive collections country endemicity regarding native bee Characterising habitat requirements bees pressing priority to safeguard them...
We describe a new genus and species of Chilean Blattodea (Ectobiidae), collected on Isla Grande de Chiloé associated with Fascicularia bicolor (Bromeliaceae). study the morphology both sexes SEM. The taxon is brachypterous, tiny ellipsoid tegmina hind wings absent. female presents strongly sclerotized genital sclerites spermathecal plate developed. male without tergal specializationsand asymmetrical styles. Medium phallomere modified sclerites, compose complex that includes long ejaculatory duct.
A comparative study of morphology on the genus Araucanioperla Illies, 1963 is discussed. Two species are known, A. bullocki (Navás, 1933) and brincki (Froehlich, 1960). For first time larva brincki, male genitalia eggs two described illustrated. The results showed that larvae similar for genus, definitively rejecting other larval morphotypes proposed it. Eggs also between species. both specifically distinctive.
A new species of Gripopterygidae from Chilean Patagonia, Antarctoperla aonikenk sp. n., is described. This shows wing dimorphism, with brachypterous males and macropterous females. The male genitalia have sufficient characters to diagnose distinguish the other in genus Antarctoperlinae. Comparative illustrations are provided for three genus.
