Abstract Bottom trawling, which is highly detrimental to seabed habitats, has been banned in some jurisdictions mitigate the problems of habitat destruction and overfishing. However, most reports ecosystem responses trawling impacts originate from temperate latitudes, focusing on commercial species, recovery invertebrate macrobenthos trawl ban hardly ever studied tropics. In Hong Kong (lat. 22.4°N), a history intensive with various types gears long degraded coastal ecosystems. To facilitate...

Compared to rain, dew is an important supplementary source of water for the survival certain plants and animals in drylands. However, hydrology has not yet been fully investigated due difficulties measuring amount duration it. In this study, a 3-year in-situ monitoring experiment was conducted from 2014 2016 semi-arid Sanyuan County, Shaanxi Province China, using leaf wetness sensor (LWS) four associated meteorological instruments. Results showed that average annual total dewfall 32.8 mm...

Sclerolinum annulatus n. sp. (Annelida: Siboglinidae) is described based on specimens collected from soft sediment of the Haima cold seep in South China Sea. Morphologically, S . distinct having a tube with transverse rings and forepart (i.e., anterior region) containing one arched row elongated plaques both sides dorsal furrow. Genome skimming, assembly, annotation produced nearly complete mitogenome S. 15,553 bp nucleotides that encodes 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNA, 22 tRNA....

In the Southwestern Atlantic, Falkland Current intrudes onto South American shelf, resulting in meeting of two water masses which are completely different temperature and dynamic characteristics, thus generating Atlantic Front (SAF). Therefore, SAF has prominent characteristics thermal dynamics. The current ocean front detection is mainly by performing gradient operations on sea surface (SST) data, where regions with large gradients considered as fronts. method largely ignores dynamical...

We report the complete mitochondrial genome of Leocrates chinensis Kinberg, 1866 - type species genus. It is 15061 bp long, and contains 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA (tRNAs), 2 rRNA (rRNAs), 1 putative control region. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that L. was placed as sister to Sirsoe methanicola (BS = 100) same family Hesionidae.

The Southern Ocean front (SOF) is an important factor that affects the heat exchange and material transport of Ocean. In past two decades, with advancements in satellite remote-sensing technology, study spatio-temporal variability has become a new hot topic. Nevertheless, southwestern Atlantic, as part Ocean, poorly studied this regard. Based on 16-year (2004–2019) high-resolution observations sea surface temperature (SST) 13-year (2007–2019) chlorophyll (CHL), detected analyzed position...

We describe M. fujianensis n. sp. (Annelida: Hesionidae), collected from the coast of Fujian Province, China, based on morphological and molecular analyses. Micropodarke is characterized by having two pairs minute eyes, neurochaetae middle segments without basal long teeth. The K2P distances COI, 16S rRNA, 18S 28S histone H3 fragments diverged corresponding sequences closest related species in GenBank BOLD Systems 22.3%, 10.7%, 0, 1.15%, 1.1%, respectively. Abstract The South China Sea (SCS) basin is hypothesized to host distinct and bathymetrically differentiated fauna due its semi‐enclosed three‐layer circulation system. To test this hypothesis, three cow falls are artificially deployed at separate depths (655, 1604, 3402 m) on Zhongnan seamount in the middle SCS, associated worms, Sirsoe spp. selected as targets explore their diversity, phylogeny, zonation pattern. Analyses of collected specimens reveal new species, which were then nominally...

Abstract Chloeia flava (Pallas, 1766) is characterized by having circular middorsal spots on median segments, and researchers have different opinions whether circular- oval-shaped segments are intraspecific morphological variations of C. . However, molecular data lacking to resolve this problem. Based specimens collected from Fujian, China, we conducted genetic analyses, the results clarified that were in live specimens, while they varied oval shape among fixed specimens. Morphological...
