Abstract There is no doubt about the interest of achieving as fast possible capability to build and operate high performance reactors that finally allow fusion competing in electricity market. An advanced breeding blanket based on Dual Coolant Lithium Lead concept with single module segment architecture, designed for European DEMO, certainly aligned such objective. This work describes some recent outcomes efforts carried out framework Prospective R&D Work Package EUROfusion develop this...
Cyclic compression fatigue properties of concrete are studied with the ultrasonic testing method cycling frequency 19 kHz and compared to servo-hydraulic tests performed at 60 Hz. Ultrasonic was found applicable for rapid generation very high cycle (VHCF) data concrete. Fatigue cracks can be initiated, however specimens do not rupture, since cyclic stresses decrease increase compliance in displacement controlled tests. Observation resonance frequency, analysis higher order harmonics...
This technical paper presents results of an air-cooled supercritical CO2 (sCO2) finned-tube sink heat exchanger (HX) performance test comprising wide range variable parameters (26–166 °C, 7–10 MPa, 0.1–0.32 kg/s). The measurement covered both and subcritical pressures including transition pseudocritical region in the last stages HX. was performed a newly built sCO2 experimental loop which constructed within Sustainable Energy (SUSEN) project at Research Centre Rez (CVR). setup along with...
This article presents research on the behavior of cement-bonded particleboards under mechanical stress caused by static load. The composition boards was modified using alternative raw materials-dust (DU) forming during processing cement-fibre and particle mixture (PM) generated in production particleboards. (1-year-old) were subjected to an adverse environment (100 250 frost cycles). Mechanical parameters tested, development defects load bending analyzed acoustic emission. Particleboards...
This article discusses about the possibility of using technical hemp as a source natural fibres for purpose construction. The (Cannabis Sativa) is two types fibres; bast (used mainly in paper and textile industries) woody - hurds. In recent decades hurds have experienced renaissance use construction industry. material waste resulting from processing stem on fibres. For purposes construction, it has potential thanks to their exceptional thermal insulation, antiseptic, acoustic mechanical...
The article examines the research aimed at studying basic physico-mechanical parameters of polymer-cement repair mortars with a modified composition. objective composition modification was to achieve characteristic fire-resistant mortars. For purposes, lightweight sintered aggregate-based ash body used along polymer fibres based on polyolefin. It suggested use few recipes that have been subjected high temperature stress up 1200 °C. Subsequently suitability formula verified by determining...
Abstract In this paper is described the concept of a 20 MW microreactor cooled by molten salts with registered trademark Energy Well. Well reactor designed to supply either electricity or heat, in remote areas into populated areas. The description includes context, main design features, safety systems, thermohydraulic analysis RELAPS 3D, logistic, and transport reactor.
Dual Coolant Lithium Lead (DCLL) is one of the four breeding blanket concepts being developed within EUROfusion project as candidates for European DEMO. One most challenging components in terms thermal-hydraulic first wall. In order to handle high thermal loads that DCLL wall will be facing, a proper design helium cooling system crucial. The present work deals with evaluation ability under DEMO conditions and optimization geometric operational parameters composed channels. For this purpose,...
A coupling of advanced reactors with high-capacity energy storage and other innovative non–nuclear technologies is a way to increase the flexibility utilisation factor future nuclear systems diversify its outputs. In this paper, basic layout hybrid system for gas-cooled fast reactor proposed. The composed high-temperature thermal unit coupled supercritical CO2 conversion cycle both low-temperature hydrogen production utilization. As reference GFR reactor, ALLEGRO concept considered. paper...
The cement-bonded particle boards can be used among other also with reconstructions of various types buildings as a part final surface treatment. paper deals partial results the research focused on optimisation board composition alternative raw materials. Specifically it is analyzing basic parameters waste originating during processing (modification format and quality) boards. Upon findings design new formulas mentioned further, i.e. modified above stated waste. outputs presented in article...
This paper presents newly developed polymer-cement composites. The primary binder (cement) was partially substituted byuse of blast-furnace slag and high-temperature fly ash. A lightweightaggregate – agloporite (grain size in range 1–2 mm) wasused among other components. porous aggregate is producedfrom energy by-products (fly ash). Attention focusedon the behavior composites when exposed to elevatedtemperatures (400 °C–1,000°C). The influence several differentmethods temperature decrease...
The paper focuses on the study of parameters in newly developed polymer-cement mortars designed for applications environments with a potential stress by extreme temperatures. Recipes repair intended redevelopment steel-reinforced concrete structures were and tested.
The conventional homogeneous materials can no longer effectively satisfy the growing demands on product capabilities and performance, due to advancement in products design engineering. Therefore, fibre reinforced composites with better properties desirable applications emerged. Natural fibres have high strength low weight ratios good sound thermal insulation properties. Combination of organic filler inorganic matrix creates high-quality such as boards composites. great importance is attached...
The paper presents the results of research aimed at modifying composition cement-bonded particleboards. These materials can be used as a suitable finish surface treatment among others for renovations not only older buildings. Specifically, problem analyzing selected and actually produced alternative raw in connection with previous findings. effect pretreatment grinding equipment was tested. Furthermore, it use thermal methods quantification constituents analyzed material. In terms subsequent...
Abstract The paper presents research into the changes of properties in cement-bonded particleboards caused by moisture saturation over course 504 h. Three particleboard variants were tested, all at age 18 months. first is a standard production-line board manufactured CIDEM Hranice, a.s. (identified as CP-R). other two modified by-products manufacturing process—dust (CP-D) and particulate mixture (CP-P). experiment observed boards’ dimensions, volume, mass. effect on their basic material was...
