In February of 1996 a human adenovirus (formerly known as Ad-Cor-96-487) was isolated from the stool an AIDS patient who presented with severe chronic diarrhea. To characterize this apparently novel pathogen potential public health significance, complete genome sequenced to elucidate its origin. Bioinformatic and phylogenetic analyses demonstrate that virus, heretofore referred HAdV-D58, contains hexon gene well recombinant fiber gene. addition, serological analysis demonstrated HAdV-D58 has...

Water resources contaminated with wastewater are an important source for the dissemination of enteric viruses impact on health population. The aim study was to assess viral contamination freshwater from a dam in Argentina by using infectious enterovirus detection, RNA amplification, and genetic characterization five associated diarrhea hepatitis. In recent years, several types of human adenovirus (HAdV) have arisen from the recombination between two or more previously known HAdV types, but their epidemiology is poorly understood. this study, we investigated circulation HAdV-58, a recently described isolated an HIV-positive patient in Córdoba city, Argentina. For purpose, 30-month survey was conducted to study presence type sewage samples collected at inlet wastewater treatment plant Complementarily, virus sought stools patients....

Abstract Viral transformation models may be useful to detect and map human tumor suppressor genes. BK virus (BKV), a papovavirus, readily transforms rodent cells but is unable transform cells, suggesting that oncosuppressive functions expressed in control BKV oncogenic activity. We have transferred chromosome 6 BKV‐transformed mouse pRPcTlssI cells. The great majority of the colonies growing selective medium degenerated by senescence. Only five hybrid pRPcTIssI/H6 clones maintained...

Abstract Human herpesvirus 6 (HHV‐6) and 7 (HHV‐7) are common opportunistic agents in immunocompromised hosts, although infection with HHV‐6 HHV‐7 can also be observed immunocompetent hosts. Despite similar biology epidemiology, this study evaluated differences the IgG subclass distribution associated seropositive, healthy persons. The identified subclasses were compared detection of DNA. For these assays, sera, plasma, saliva samples obtained from 40 blood donors Argentina who seropositive...

We studied the occurrence of reovirus infection in children hospitalized with acute gastroenteritis Argentina during a 20-year interval (1981 through 2001). Three 2854 (0.10%) stools were positive for but negative adenovirus, astrovirus and rotavirus. Children infected <1 year old; one had meningoencephalitis addition to gastroenteritis. This study indicates that is an uncommon cause childhood requires medical assistance.
