Advances in the development of electric vehicles, along with policy incentives, will see a wider uptake this technology transport sector future years. However, widespread adoption vehicles could lead to adverse effects on power system, especially for existing distribution networks. These would include excessive voltage drops and overloading network components, which occur mainly during periods simultaneous charging large numbers vehicles. This paper demonstrates how controlling rate at...
Controlled charging of electric vehicles offers a potential solution to accommodating large numbers such on existing distribution networks without the need for widespread upgrading network infrastructure. Here, local control technique is proposed whereby individual vehicle units attempt maximise their own rate while maintaining conditions within acceptable limits. Simulations are performed demonstrate benefits test network. The results method also compared those from centralized EV...
Advances in the development of electric vehicles, along with policy incentives will see a wider uptake this technology transport sector future years. However, widespread implementation vehicles could lead to adverse effects on power system networks, especially existing distribution networks. This work investigates some potential impacts from various levels uncontrolled vehicle charging test network. The network is examined under worst case scenario conditions for residential electricity...
Traditionally, manufacturing performance in a firm has been evaluated with static input-output measures such as factor efficiency. However, other relating to the corporate competitive stance and corresponding variables task are important determining success. We suggest set of potential profiles for different types mission tasks. These validated survey data, both strategic focus congruence derived evaluated.
Abstract There has been considerable debate over the viability of unrelated product, or conglomerate strategy. The financial arguments for and against its are well known. However, administrative imperatives successful implementation have not investigated. paper argues that there a number critical contingencies this strategy which only few product firms recognized. These concern policies dealing with acquisition, divestment, portfolio structure, management organization. discusses each in...
Abstract Market failure concepts together with a corporate strategy taxonomy have important implications for the direction of growth firms and their possible success. This paper discusses relationship between these shows how specific types market give rise to classes firms. Arguments are presented why will be more or less successful than others. Empirical research by Rumelt is then cited which supports themes developed in paper.
Abstract Prior research suggests that the online provision of course materials can have a positive impact on students' examination performance. This study adds to existing literature by investigating link between use different forms provisions and tools (i.e. materials, links discussion forums) final performance students in second year undergraduate accounting course. Findings indicate association number files viewed students, messages posted them, their A significant relationship was not...
This paper presents details of an electric vehicle impact assessment trial currently being undertaken in Dublin, Ireland. The involves three stages, each which are described this paper. first stage investigated the potential from charging on operating conditions existing residential network. During trial, vehicles were driven and charged by typical electricity customers. data recorded during patterns associated effects Stages 2 3 ongoing, will involve examining basic control techniques...
The eNeuron project aims to develop a pioneering toolbox framework for the optimal design and operation of multi-carrier energy systems, such as integrated local communities based on hub concept. In today's rapidly evolving business regulatory landscape, evaluation models has become critical endeavor stakeholders aiming remain competitive maximise their revenues. With advent technological advancements changing customer expectations, must continuously assess adapt enable effective use cases....

The integration of electric vehicles (EVs) poses potential issues for low voltage (LV) distribution networks, such as deviations and overloading equipment. Controlled EV charging is seen one possibility reducing, or even eliminating, these issues. This work presents an optimisation method which focuses on controlling the rate at EVs charge over a 24-hour time horizon, subject to certain constraints. A sample network used tool tested multiple objective functions.
This article deals with ways to help create effective teams. Guiding principles are discussed, and a number of successful examples provided, including those Boeing, Volvo, Jostens. The importance team selection, development, compensation, training, communication all considered. Tips for building teams given throughout the discussion.
ACCSEPT was a two-year research project (2005–2007) funded under the 6th framework programme of European Commission. The leader Det Norske Veritas (DNV), and partners were Baker McKenzie, Energy Research Centre Netherlands (ECN), Institute for Environmental Policy (IEEP), Tyndall Climate Change Research, Judge Business School University Cambridge. There three main focuses project: Europe-wide survey stakeholders their opinions on CCS; stakeholder consultation through two workshops; into...
As plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) adoption ramps up, utilities need to maintain grid reliability and safety for adoptors their residential neighborhood. Quantifying the relationship between system distribution equipment capabilities expected PEV charging demand becomes an important utility planning function. PEVs are charge at a rate of 3.3, 6.6, 7.2, 9.6, 19.2 kW. result, substantial number various households will significantly alter typical patterns networks. Utilities implementing...
Abstract The relationship between various types of research or scholarly activity and evaluations teaching was investigated with respect to 67 ranked faculty members in a college business administration. Data were collected for 2-year period on the number type publications presentations student each member. A factor analysis revealed distinct pattern nature preferred by individuals. In general, “higher status” (books, refereed journal articles, national presentations) showed no evaluations,...
Purpose The purpose of this article is to discuss using the intranet build teamwork. Design/methodology/approach author provides a useful viewpoint on Findings Many organizations are attempting use teams and allowing these employees engage in self‐directed work. To be successful must work an integrated, collaborative fashion toward organizational goal or vision. One keys success having rapid, meaningful feedback about performance for all team members. It argued that combined with current...
