Developing microwave absorption (MA) materials with ultrahigh efficiency and facile preparation method remains a challenge. Herein, superior 1D@2D@1D hierarchical structure integrated multi-heterointerfaces via self-assembly an autocatalytic pyrolysis is designed to fully unlock the attenuation potential of materials, realizing ultra-efficient MA performance. By precisely regulating morphology metal organic framework precursor toward improved impedance matching intelligently integrating...

Ammonia oxidation to nitrite and its subsequent nitrate provides energy the two populations of nitrifying chemoautotrophs in energy-starved dark ocean, driving a coupling between reduced inorganic nitrogen (N) pools production new organic carbon (C) ocean. However, relationship flux C fluxes N steps remains unclear. Here, we show that, despite orders-of-magnitude difference cell abundances ammonia oxidizers oxidizers, sustain similar bulk N-oxidation rates throughout deep waters with...

Abstract In the context of continuously increasing anthropogenic nitrogen inputs, knowledge how ammonia oxidation (AO) in ocean responds to warming is crucial predicting future changes marine biogeochemistry. Here, we show divergent thermal response patterns for AO across a wide onshore/offshore trophic gradient. We find oxidizer community and ambient substrate co-regulate optimum temperatures (T opt ), generating distinct with T varying from ≤14 °C ≥34 °C. Substrate addition elevates when...

Active hydrothermal vents create extreme conditions characterized by high temperatures, low pH levels, and elevated concentrations of heavy metals other trace elements. These support unique ecosystems where chemolithoautotrophs serve as primary producers. The steep temperature gradients from the vent mouth to its periphery provide a wide range microhabitats for these specialized microorganisms. However, their metabolic functions, adaptations in response gradients, coping mechanisms under...

Cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPDs) and (6-4) pyrimidone photoproducts (6-4PPs) are genotoxic DNA lesions mainly generated on thymine-thymine (T-T) dinucleotides upon UV irradiation. Regarding the sensitivity, specificity, accuracy of analytical methods, it is first choice to develop a reliable assay for simultaneous detection these using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). However, dilemma low sensitivity phosphate-containing dimeric even most favorable negative-ion...

Introduction Seagrass-associated microbial communities play a crucial role in the growth and health of seagrasses. However, like seagrass meadows, seagrass-associated are often affected by eutrophication. It remains unclear how eutrophication influences composition function associated with different parts seagrass. Methods We employed prokaryotic 16S rRNA gene high-throughput sequencing combining community structure analysis co-occurrence network to investigate variances compositions,...

Abstract Heterotrophic prokaryotes have the capacity to uptake inorganic nitrogen (N) substrates. However, it remains unclear what potential competition is between heterotrophic and autotrophic plankton for N in ocean, which would shunt flow of supporting primary production. To date, has been difficult distinguish prokaryotic from that picoplankton, especially oligotrophic oceans dominated by cyanobacteria. We carried out field‐based DNA stable isotope probing incubation experiments South...

Methanol (MOH) and monomethylamine (MMA) are two typical one-carbon (C1) compounds found in natural environments. They play an important role marine atmospheric chemistry, cloud formation, global climate. The main biological sink of MOH MMA is rapid consumption by microbes. Here, field-based time-series incubations with supplemental 13C-labelled isotope ratio analyses were performed.
