The concentration of chloride in sweat remains the most robust biomarker for confirmatory diagnosis cystic fibrosis (CF), a common life-shortening genetic disorder. Early via quantitative assessment allows prompt initiation care and is critically important to extend life expectancy improve quality life. collection analysis using conventional wrist-strapped devices iontophoresis can be cumbersome, particularly infants with fragile skin, who often have insufficient production. Here, we...

Recently introduced classes of thin, soft, skin-mounted microfluidic systems offer powerful capabilities for continuous, real-time monitoring total sweat loss, rate and biomarkers. Although these technologies operate without the cost, complexity, size, weight associated with active components or power sources, rehydration events can render previous measurements irrelevant detection anomalous physiological events, such as high requires user engagement to observe colorimetric responses. Here...

We demonstrate the epitaxial growth of EuO on GaAs by reactive molecular beam epitaxy. Thin films are grown in an adsorption-controlled regime with aid MgO diffusion barrier. Despite large lattice mismatch, it is shown that grows well MgO(001) excellent magnetic properties. Epitaxy cube-on-cube and longitudinal magneto-optic Kerr effect measurements a rotation 0.57{\deg}, significant remanent magnetization, Curie temperature 69 K.

We propose the use of Fabry–Perot cavities as a means to augment enhancement factor in surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and tip-enhanced (TERS) experiments by optical interference. Using both clean-room bench-top fabrication approaches, we demonstrate that such design can be readily realized provides an additional 12× SERS 5× TERS enhancement, good agreement with expectations from electromagnetic modeling. The mechanism interference is far-field nature independent mechanisms...

Strict process control, combined with proprietary enhancements have enabled the production of large-scale single-crystal sapphire that demonstrates crystalline quality in excess what has previously been possible. Extremely low defect densities, narrow rocking-curves, and very stress gradients material are demonstrated through various X-ray diffraction techniques.

As sensor technology and applications have advanced over the years, size of windows has grown substantially to satisfy current future demands. Rubicon Technology, with their strong history in scaling sapphire crystal growth large scale production processes, successfully produced blanks using a highly modified horizontal directional solidification process. Several prototypes been synthesized up 1.75 inches thick, 14 wide 20 long. Crystal properties optical characteristics such as transmission...
