The area under the time‐dependent ROC curve (AUC) may be used to quantify ability of a marker predict onset clinical outcome in future. For survival analysis with competing risks, two alternative definitions specificity proposed depending way deal subjects who undergo events. In this work, we propose nonparametric inverse probability censoring weighting estimators AUC corresponding these definitions, and study their asymptotic properties. We derive confidence intervals test statistics for...
The concordance probability is a widely used measure to assess discrimination of prognostic models with binary and survival endpoints. We formally define the for model absolute risk an event interest in presence competing risks relate it recently proposed time-dependent area under receiver operating characteristic curve measures. For right-censored data, we investigate inverse censoring weighted (IPCW) estimates truncated index based on working distribution. demonstrate consistency...
Summary Thanks to the growing interest in personalized medicine, joint modeling of longitudinal marker and time-to-event data has recently started be used derive dynamic individual risk predictions. Individual predictions are called because they updated when information on subject's health profile grows with time. We focus this work statistical methods for quantifying comparing predictive accuracy kind prognostic models, accounting right censoring possibly competing events. Dynamic area...
We show that the widely used concordance index for time to event outcome is not proper when interest in predicting a $t$-year risk of an event, example 10-year mortality. In situation with fixed prediction horizon, can be higher misspecified model than correctly specified model. Impropriety happens because assesses order times and status at horizon. The time-dependent area under receiver operating characteristic curve does have this problem context.
To quantify the ability of a marker to predict onset clinical outcome in future, time-dependent estimators sensitivity, specificity, and ROC curve have been proposed accounting for censoring outcome. In this paper, we review these estimators, recall their assumptions about mechanism highlight relationships properties. A simulation study shows that marker-dependent can lead important biases not adapted case. slight modification inverse probability weighting by Uno et al. (2007) Hung Chiang...
Abstract Aims We aimed to investigate the long-term cardio-protective effect associated with beta-blocker (BB) treatment in stable, optimally treated myocardial infarction (MI) patients without heart failure (HF). Methods and results Using nationwide registries, we included first-time MI undergoing coronary angiography (CAG) or percutaneous intervention (PCI) during admission both acetyl-salicylic acid statins post-discharge between 2003 2018. Patients prior history of MI, BB use, any...
We aimed to study whether visit-to-visit variability of glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) is associated with incident major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), all-cause mortality, and type 2 diabetes in people without diabetes. We included primary care patients no history or disease three annual HbA1c measurements within normal range (<6.5% [48 mmol/mol]). For each individual, we measured the as SD residuals obtained from a linear regression on measurements. From regression, also estimated...
Background: Heart failure (HF) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D) has received growing attention. We examined the effect of HF development on prognosis compared other cardiovascular or renal diagnoses T2D. Methods and Results: Patients new T2D diagnosis were identified between 1998 2015 through Danish nationwide registers. At yearly landmark timepoints after diagnosis, we estimated 5-year risks death, risk ratios, decrease lifespan within 5 years associated HF, ischemic heart...
Patients with severely reduced kidney function have been excluded from randomized controlled trials and data on the safety efficacy of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) according to remain sparse. The aim was evaluate DOACs across subgroups function.
Intrusive luxation is a frequent injury in the primary dentition. Complications such as ankylosis or pulp necrosis (PN) and infection with periapical inflammation may affect developing permanent tooth if not diagnosed treated time. The aim of this study was to report risk PN, canal obliteration (PCO), infection-related resorption (IRR), ankylosis-related (ARR) premature loss (PTL) teeth following intrusive luxation, identify possible factors for PN PTL.A retrospective analysis cohort...
To investigate the risk of stroke/thromboembolism (TE) and major bleeding associated with anaemia among patients atrial fibrillation (AF). Also, to assess effects oral anticoagulation (OAC) time in therapeutic range (TTR) vitamin K antagonists according level haemoglobin (Hb).Through administrative registry databases, we identified all Danish diagnosed AF from 1997 2012. We included 18 734 recent available data on Hb. Multiple Cox regression analyses were used estimate hazard ratios compute...
More knowledge about the development of sudden cardiac death (SCD) in general population is needed to develop meaningful predictors SCD. Our aim with this study was estimate incidence SCD and examine temporal changes, demographics clinical characteristics. All participants Copenhagen City Heart Study were followed from 1993 2016. All certificates, autopsy reports national registry data used identify all cases SCD.A total 14 562 subjects included study. There 8394 deaths information available,...
Abstract Background/Aim Traumatic dental injuries ( TDI ) in the primary dentition occur frequently. Long‐term complications may potentially cause damage to permanent successor. The aim of this study was report risk pulp necrosis PN ), canal obliteration PCO infection‐related resorption IRR ankylosis‐related ARR and premature tooth loss PTL teeth following extrusion or lateral luxation identify factors for . Abstract Aims Gastrointestinal bleeding (GI-bleeding) is frequent in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) treated oral anticoagulation (OAC) therapy. We sought to investigate what extent lower GI-bleeding represents the unmasking of an occult colorectal cancer. Methods and results A total 125 418 Danish AF initiating OAC therapy were identified using administrative registers. Non-parametric estimation semi-parametric absolute risk regression used estimate risks cancer without GI-bleeding....
Photoacoustic imaging (PAI) shows promise for skin cancer diagnosis by detecting chromophores like melanin, hemoglobin, lipids, and collagen. While most studies focus on malignant lesions, understanding normal variability across anatomical regions is crucial validating PAI's clinical application its use in melanoma diagnosis. We assessed 20 healthy volunteers from three different body locations using a PAI system compared suspicious looking pigmented including melanomas, to adjacent (n =...
