Fifty cases of severe malaria were studied for their oxidant and antioxidant status. Severe anemia (54%) was the most common presentation followed by hyperpyrexia, cerebral jaundice. Plasma malondialdehyde, protein carbonyl, nitrite, ascorbic acid copper levels significantly raised in as compared with controls (p < 0.001). ceruloplasmin, glutathione superoxide dismutase decreased children zinc increased but difference is not statistically significant. Significantly level nitrites value found...

PRUNE is a member of the DHH (Asp-His-His) phosphoesterase protein superfamily molecules important for cell motility, and implicated in cancer progression. Here we investigated multiple families from Oman, India, Iran Italy with individuals affected by new autosomal recessive neurodevelopmental degenerative disorder which cardinal features include primary microcephaly profound global developmental delay. Our genetic studies identified biallelic mutations PRUNE1 as responsible. functional...

Background Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is the preferred and convenient treatment modality for acute kidney injury (AKI) in children hemodynamically unstable patients. Methods The outcome of PD was studied 57 (39 boys) with AKI, aged 1 month to 12 years, at a tertiary care center teaching hospital India. Results Hemolytic uremic syndrome (36.8%) most common cause followed by septicemia (24.6%) tubular necrosis (19.3%). Treatment highly effective lowering retention markers ( p < 0.001)....

Abstract Background: A hospital‐based prospective cross‐sectional study was conducted in children aged 1 month–14 years to identify the proportion of viral encephalitis due Japanese (JE) and compare clinico‐laboratory profile outcome JE with that other (non‐JE). Methods: All probable cases on clinical laboratory evaluation were confirmed as anti‐JE IgM cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and/or serum. Patients not having CSF serum diagnosed non‐JE. Results: Of 94 cases, 58 36 Although practice rearing...

Glucocorticoid therapy in children with nephrotic syndrome can lead to many adverse effects including behavioural problems. The present study was undertaken assess the changes individual behaviour among different sub-groups of patients idiopathic (INS) and also find out relationship, if any, between problems cumulative dose steroid therapy. This a prospective hospital-based study. We assessed patterns 131 adolescents steroid-responsive INS aged 1.5-15 years. Fifty healthy matched for age...

The objective of the present study was to find out predictors relapse. One hundred fifty children with a first episode idiopathic nephrotic syndrome were followed for 12 months after initial treatment. Sixty-one (40.7%) had no relapse, and 89 (59.3%) relapses. A significantly higher proportion disease onset between 1 3 years relapsers in comparison those at 4-6 (p < 0.03) 7-13 0.001) years. Risk relapse 2.99 times this 1-3 year age-group as compared patients aged >6 = 0.001). Children...

Tuberculosis is characterized by extensive destruction and remodelling of the pulmonary extracellular matrix. Stromal cell-derived matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are implicated in this process may be a target for adjunctive immunotherapy. We hypothesized that MMPs elevated bronchoalveolar lavage fluid tuberculosis patients antimycobacterial agents have modulatory effect on MMP secretion. Concentrations MMP-1, -2, -3, -7, -8, -9 were from compared to those with other conditions. There was...
