ConspectusThe initial observations of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) from individual molecules (single-molecule SERS, SMSERS) have triggered ever more detailed mechanistic studies on the SERS process. The not only reveal existence extremely enhanced and confined fields at gaps Ag or Au nanoparticles but also that spatial, spectral, temporal behaviors SMSERS signal critically depend many factors, including plasmon resonances nanostructures, diffusion (lateral orientational)...

Spinal astrocytes have emerged as important mechanistic contributors to the genesis of mechanical allodynia (MA) in neuropathic pain. We recently demonstrated that spinal sigma non-opioid intracellular receptor 1 (σ1 receptor) modulates p38 MAPK phosphorylation (p-p38), which plays a critical role induction MA rats. However, histological and physiological relationships among σ1, p-p38 astrocyte activation is unclear. We investigated: (i) precise location σ1 receptors dorsal horn; (ii) whether...

This study presents a simple and effective method for fabricating porous photocatalyst composite membrane with excellent wet strength, utilizing cellulose nanofibril (CNF) zinc oxide–silver (ZnO–Ag) nanorod (NRs) treating dye-contaminated water. The self-standing CNF high strength was prepared by NaOH treatment. Besides treatment also controlled the pore characteristics of membrane, which could tightly attach NRs in them. simply drop-drying ZnO–Ag onto ensuring attachment within pores....

The paper presents experimental results from the operation of a proto-type green ship in Geoje island, South Korea. After ground testing with stand-alone PV generation system, this system was added to conventional diesel ship. Proto-type is consisted photovoltaic (PV) engine, battery energy storage, hybrid control and grid-connected inverter. aim not only minimize fuel consumption but also support power grid as distributed (DG) near future.

A well-designed narrow gap between noble metal nanostructures plays a prominent role in surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) to concentrate electromagnetic fields at the local point, called "hot spot". However, SERS-active substrate fabrication remains substantial hurdle due high process cost and difficulty of engineering efficient plasmonic hot spots target area. In this study, we demonstrate simple photolithographic method for generating ultrasensitive SERS desired positions. The...

Realizing bright colloidal infrared emitters in the midwavelength (or mid-IR), which can be used for low-power IR light-emitting diodes (LEDs), sensors, and deep-tissue imaging, has been a challenge last few decades. Here, we present tellurium nanowires with strong emission intensity at room temperature even lasing 3.6 μm (ω) under cryotemperature. Furthermore, second-harmonic field 1.8 (2ω) third-harmonic 1.2 (3ω) are successfully generated thanks to intrinsic property of nanowire. These...

Plasmonic nanoparticles (NPs) hold considerable potential as photocatalysts owing to their robust light–matter interactions across diverse electromagnetic wavelengths, which significantly influence the photophysical characteristics of adjacent molecular entities. Despite widespread use noble-metal NPs in surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) applications, little is known about kinetics nanoparticle aggregation and how it affects configurations.
