While testifying in child abuse cases, physicians have been frustrated by the lawyer who asks, "Doctor, how did this injury happen?" The medical records and radiographs of 215 children younger than age 3 with fractures evaluated a pediatric service during 5-year period were retrospectively reviewed an attempt to elucidate mechanism childhood fractures. Based on these reviews, two clinicians radiologists rated likelihood that fracture was either accidental or due abuse. Long-bone strongly...

Abstract BACKGROUND: Although chest radiography is commonly used to establish the diagnosis of pneumonia in children, reliability radiographic findings among radiologists not well described. OBJECTIVE: We sought evaluate inter‐rater and intra‐rater features described by childhood pneumonia. METHODS: Prospective case‐based study. One hundred ten radiographs children evaluated a pediatric emergency department for suspicion were interpreted six at two academic children's hospitals. Radiologists...

Adequate sedation remains one of the most important parts performing high quality cross-sectional imaging in children. This is a noncomparative retrospective analysis existing protocols used 1,158 children between ages 1 day and 18 years, checking for safety efficacy. The commonly drugs were chloral hydrate (60–120 mg/kg) by mouth infants <18 months intravenous Nembutal (2–6 older Sedation was successful 97% patients.

Cystic fibrosis (CF), the most common lethal autosomal recessive disease in white populations, is characterized by dysfunctional chloride ion transport across epithelial surfaces. Although recurrent pulmonary infections and insufficiency are principal causes of morbidity death, gastrointestinal symptoms commonly precede findings may suggest diagnosis infants young children. Intestinal malrotation is a major diagnostic challenge in children. Sometimes the prognostic significance of findings from upper gastrointestinal tract examinations unclear. In series 69 surgically proved cases, authors studied prevalence and clinical consequences various radiographic patterns correlated surgical with location duodenum cecum. Seven duodenal were observed. Almost all children had abnormalities rotation or fixation both colon, resulting narrowing mesenteric base potential for...
