The present investigation deals with the examination of response amorphous AlN films to post-deposition annealing environments such as high vacuum (HV) and nitrogen atmosphere (NA). c / a ratio values from GIXRD for both cases are around 1.602. XPS profile NA-AlN shows deficiency on surface, whereas oxygen impurity level is negligible in case NA compared HV. PL spectra substantiate vacancies NA-AlN. exhibits nanoindentation hardness 18 GPa.

The authors report on hydrophobic self-cleaning surfaces of transparent zinc oxide (ZnO) thin films tuned by controlling uniformity the film surfaces. ZnO were synthesized a simple, low-cost sol–gel technique. degree hydrophobicity was strongly dependent number coatings with ZnO. surface polycrystalline 8-coatings maximum static contact angle 114° ± 3°. highly average transmission exceeding 80% in visible region. Thus, new can be great importance commercial application as

The wettability of electrodeposited zinc oxide (ZnO) thin films has been rationally controlled by individually engineering surface topography and chemical structure. We have studied the hydrophobic ZnO that were rendered ultrahydrophobic coating with low surface-energy self-assembled monolayer octadecyltrichlorosilane also hydrophilized annealing at elevated temperature in air ambient. as deposited film was contact angle around 105°±3° against water, while annealed distinctly hydrophilic....

Silicon nanocrystals have been prepared in thin-film form by a dc magnetron sputtering technique. The optical transmission, absorption, Raman effect and photoluminescence of the studied. observed blueshift band gap due to reduction crystallite size is correlated with transmission electron microscopy observation. spectra indicated presence TO mode which showed redshift decrease nanocrystallites.

Studies on the dc electrical conductivity of SiO2/CdSe/SiO2 nanocomposites in temperature range 150-370 K are presented. The existence a threshold volume fraction semiconducting phase for percolation conduction composites was observed. results agreement with predictions theoretical models proposed granular metals. dependence higher (with T-1/2 variation) is good model Sheng and Klafter.

This paper reported on highly transparent self-cleaning surfaces of zinc oxide synthesized via the sol–gel route. The results, including x-ray diffraction, optical transmittance spectra, atomic force microscopy and contact angles, were also in paper, along with a discussion hydrophobic properties oxide. However, upon further investigation hydrophobicity thin films, we found that angles originally not reproducible, hence this might have led to incorrect ambiguous analysis films. inconsistency...
