We report here the complete 2.92-Mb genome sequence of a clinical isolate methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus subsp. that demonstrates intermediate-level vancomycin resistance. The strain, named JKD6008, belongs to multilocus type 239 and was isolated from bloodstream patient in New Zealand 2003.

Domesticated cattle were commonplace in northern Africa by about 7,000 years ago. Archaeological evidence, however, suggests they not established southern until much later, no earlier than 2,000 Genetic reconstructions have started to shed light on the movement of African cattle, but efforts been frustrated a lack data south Ethiopia and nature mitochondrial haplogroup T1 which is almost fixed across continent. We sequenced 35 complete genomes from South herd Nguni breed historically...

Enteroviruses are a common cause of human disease and associated with wide range clinical manifestations. Enterovirus 68 is rarely detected yet was reported in many countries 2010. Here enterovirus identified for the first time New Zealand 2010 further fourteen specimens over six month period. To genetically characterise The genome sequence representative isolate obtained. Ten were analysed by sequencing VP1 region genome. Based on analysis full one isolate, isolates clustered contemporary...

Abstract RNA sequencing offers unprecedented access to the transcriptome. Key this is identification and quantification of many different species from same sample at time. In study we describe a novel protocol for simultaneous detection coding non-coding transcripts using modifications Ion Total RNA-Seq kit v2 protocol, with integration QIASeq FastSelect rRNA removal kit. We report highly consistent libraries can be produced both frozen high integrity mouse hippocampal tissue more...

Bite mark injuries often feature in violent crimes. Conventional morphometric methods for the forensic analysis of bite marks involve elements subjective interpretation that threaten credibility this field. Human DNA recovered from has highest evidentiary value, however recovery can be compromised by salivary components. This study assessed feasibility matching bacterial sequences amplified experimental to those obtained teeth responsible, with aim evaluating capability three genomic regions...

Background: PDQeX is a novel, single-step DNA extraction method that purifies nucleic acid from sample in under 30 min. Materials & Methods: Six bacterial suspensions species with different cell morphologies and growth optima were made. half the suspension was purified using other conventional column purification method. Sequencing analyses Ion PGM performed, blinded to species. Results: Genomes extracted either sequenced successfully. No significant sequence distribution biases evident...

There is clear evidence for carrier-mediated transport of prolactin into the brain, and it has been widely assumed that receptors (PRLRs) in choroid plexus (ChP) might mediate this transport. Using PRLR knockout mice, we recently showed PRLRs ChP are not required brain. Hence, function remains unknown. expression increased during lactation, suggesting a possible role adaptive at time. To gain insight ChP, have utilized RNA sequencing NanoString techniques to characterize transcriptional...

A number of studies have demonstrated effects gestational undernutrition on fetal ovarian development and postnatal female fertility. However, the mechanism underlying these remains elusive. Using a cohort animals in which altered nutrition affected indicators fertility, this study applies RNAseq to ovaries identify genes pathways that may underlie relationship between plane Pregnant ewes were exposed either maintenance diet or 0.6 for first 55 days gestation followed by an ad libitum diet....

Enterovirus 74 (EV74) is a rarely detected viral infection of children. In 2010, EV74 was identified in New Zealand 2 year old child with acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) through routine polio AFP surveillance. A further three cases were children within six months. These are the first report Zealand. this study we describe near complete genome sequence four isolates from Zealand, which shows only limited identity non-structural proteins when compared to other two known sequences. As typical...
