Nanowires composed of the anti-cancer drug Paclitaxel (Taxol) were fabricated using solvent annealing method inside Anodic Aluminum Oxide (AAO) templates. Surface modification AAO template with n-octadecyltrichlorsilane (OTS), prior to loading Taxol, prevented nanowires from agglomerating after dissolving in 20% phosphoric acid. Incorporating 0.4% sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) acid solution helped disperse nanowires. Using this we able fabricate tunable diameters (200, 80, 55, 35 and 18 nm)....

Molecular crystal nanowires composed of an anthracene-9-(1,3-butadiene) derivative exhibit a rapid transition from straight to highly coiled structures when exposed pulse visible light. The curling does not depend on the direction light illumination and occurs for either E or Z isomer. shape change is driven by E⇄Z photoisomerization reaction that generates mixture isomers within single nanowire.
