In this study, length and weight data are presented for 33 fish species inhabiting littoral habitats off the Yumurtalık coast. Samples were collected with combined gill trammel nets. Parameters of length-weight relationships estimated 14 species. The b values ranged between 2.35 3.53. For remained 19 species, parameter a was by setting = 3.0.

This study presents the catch composition and biodiversity of Mersin Bay, northeastern Mediterranean, which is an important fishing ground for demersal trawls. A total 182 hauls were performed on board a commercial trawler grounds between 15 September 2009 April 2013. The monthly changes in species analyzed by conducting cluster analysis based per unit effort (CPUE), nonmetric multidimensional scaling (nMDS), correlation vectors, used to evaluate discrete groups. Shannon-Wiener index (H'),...

Mortality resulting from interactions with fishing gears represent an important threat to sensitive species globally. In this study, we address issue by defining five groups of marine megafauna (marine mammals, seabirds, demersal and pelagic elasmobranchs, sea turtles), conducting a productivity-susceptibility analysis (PSA) within the context data-limited fisheries in Mediterranean Black Sea. Although there are significant differences among each group, approach has been considered much more...

The growth and mortality of brushtooth lizardfish Saurida undosquamis (Richardson, 1848) in Iskenderun Bay (eastern Mediterranean Sea) were investigated based on length frequency data using the fisat software. Total sampled 4711 fish ranged from 6.0 to 39.0 cm. von Bertalanffy function estimates L∞ = 42.00 cm, k 0.51 year-1, t0 −0.29 years. rate (Z) was computed as 1.76 year-1 exploitation ratio 0.51, indicating that stock is verge being overfished.

Abstract This article describes a method for the quantitative analysis of fish behaviour relative to selection devices in trawl gears. Based on video observations, estimates probabilities given event happen and establishes behavioural tree diagrams representing quantifying patterns relation device under assessment. Double bootstrapping is used account uncertainty originating from limited number observations natural variation behaviour. The here supplement standard catch data performance...

European hake (Merluccius merluccius) is an important commercial species for several bottom trawl fisheries. Therefore, understanding the influence of codend mesh size and shape on selection critical defining technical measures fisheries targeting this species. The Nordmøre grid is the principle bycatch mitigation device in many shrimp trawl fisheries. However, several of these fisheries, a problem because small sized fish can pass through and enter codend together with targeted shrimp. One such fishery Northeast Atlantic deep-water (Pandalus borealis) fishery, where use mandatory. In this redfish (Sebastes spp.) polar cod (Boreogadus saida) are two common species. Redfish commercially important species that at times captured great numbers, whereas...
