Sweeteners and sweetness enhancers (S&SE) are used to replace energy yielding sugars maintain sweet taste in a wide range of products, but controversy exists about their effects on appetite endocrine responses reduced or no added sugar solid foods. The aim the current study was evaluate acute (1 day) repeated (two-week daily) ingestive 2 S&SE vs. sucrose formulations biscuit with fruit filling adults overweight obesity.

Diagnosing urinary infection in patients with chronic lower tract symptoms without dysuria is a critical step. In this study we scrutinize the sensitivity and specificity of dipstick urinalysis microscopic pyuria (10 or more white blood cells per microl) to identify such patients. This was prospective, blinded, observational cohort urological outpatients painless symptoms. Midstream catheter urine samples were analyzed. A total 508 midstream used compare leukocyte esterase, nitrite microscopy...

What's known on the subject? and What does study add? Microscopic pyuria is widely used as a surrogate marker of infection, although there little data supporting its use in patients who present with non‐acute LUTS . The effects urinary storage, preservation, laboratory methods to enhance leucocyte detection, are also unclear. This large, prospective highlights poor performance dipstick urine analysis, direct microscopy, markers UTI A series analyses examine handling processing test...

Food reward (i.e., liking and wanting) has been shown to decrease after different types of weight management interventions. However, it is unknown whether specific dietary modalities (continuous (CER) vs. intermittent (IER) energy restriction) have differing effects on implicit wanting loss (WL) these changes are sustained 1-year no-contact. Women with overweight or obesity (age 18–55 years) were randomly allocated controlled-feeding CER (25% daily IER (alternating ad libitum 75% restriction...

Objective This study aimed to investigate the influence of body fatness on associations composition and energy expenditure (EE) with intake (EI). Methods Data from 93 women (BMI = 25.5 [SD 4.2] kg/m 2 ) recruited for two studies (Study 1, n 48, BMI 25.0‐34.9 ; Study 2, 45, 18.5‐24.9 were examined. Body composition, resting metabolic rate (RMR), test meal EI assessed during a laboratory probe day. Physical activity, total daily EE (TDEE), self‐reported free‐living 24‐hour collected 7 days....

Abstract This secondary analysis examined the influence of changes in physical activity (PA), sedentary time and energy expenditure (EE) during dietary restriction on rate weight loss (WL) 1-year follow-up change women with overweight/obesity. Measurements body composition (air displacement plethysmography), RMR (indirect calorimetry), total daily EE (TDEE) (AEE), minutes PA (PA monitor) were taken at baseline, after 2 weeks, ≥5 % WL or 12 weeks continuous (25 deficit) intermittent (75...

In an assessment of the accuracy with which impedance can be determined in hand-arm system, two subjects were each tested six times at 28 frequencies between 10 and 800 Hz. addition effect wearing air cushion glove was investigated, attempt made to develop a simple model glove. The results showed agreement other recently published data for system above about 25 Hz but not below. mean values single subject had standard errors 10%. When wore glove, there only small change impedance,...

Intake of free sugars in European countries is high and attempts to reduce sugar intake have been mostly ineffective. A discussion of the difficulties associated with measurement hand transmitted vibration is given and methods overcoming some these are discussed. Recommended exposure limits for prevention Vibration Induced White Finger (VWF) reviewed. Some spectra work processes known to cause VWF presented compared proposed limits. comments on validity made in light their relationship spectra.
