Abstract We sought to verify the reliability of machine learning (ML) in developing diabetes prediction models by utilizing big data. To this end, we compared gradient boosting decision tree (GBDT) and logistic regression (LR) using data obtained from Kokuho-database Osaka prefecture, Japan. develop models, focused on 16 predictors health checkup April 2013 December 2014. A total 277,651 eligible participants were studied. The developed a light (LightGBM), which is an effective GBDT...

Although the place of death patients with terminal cancer is influenced by multiple factors, few studies have systematically investigated its determinants. The purpose this study was to examine influence patients' sociodemographic, clinical and support network variables on terminally ill under care home agencies in Japan. Among 528 from 259 agencies, 342 (65%) died at 186 (35%) a hospital. From multivariate logistic regression model, who expressed desire for receiving referral [odds ratio...

This study aimed assess CST nurses psychologic distress and coping among patients after being informed a cancer diagnosis. METHODS. Nurses who mainly provide with informational support their diagnosis physicians at screening center were randomly...
Background Discrepancy between preferred and actual place of death is common in cancer patients. While previous research has elucidated the factors associated with congruence patients' death, it not known how perspective family influences death. This study examined whether preference for mediates relationship patient Methods A total 258 patients (home n = 142; hospital 116) who had received terminal care Japan were analyzed. Measures included demographic variables, preferences functional...

Although osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee joints is most common and debilitating joint disease in developed countries, factors that determine severity symptoms are not yet understood well. Subjects with symptomatic medial OA were followed up prospectively to explore relationship between radiographic changes or physical examination findings.One-hundred six knees 68 subjects (mean age 71.1 years; 85% women) at 6-month intervals over 36 months. At each visit, radiographs obtained, assessed by a...
Abstract Background : A randomized study was performed to investigate whether a communication skill (CS) training program can improve nurse's ability detect the distress of patients who have just been informed cancer diagnosis. Abstract Though psychosocial group intervention is considered in the West to be an important source of support for reducing distress cancer patients, Asian countries, there has been no research as yet on needs such intervention. This study investigated level participation and interest plus any associated factors 151 primary breast patients. All were less than 65 years old at 4–18 months post‐surgery. Of 126 subjects who responded (response rate 83%), 53 (42%) participated (participants) 73...
Background The aging of populations is rapidly accelerating worldwide. Especially, Japan has maintained the highest rate population As countermeasures, Japanese government prioritized promotion local comprehensive care systems and collaboration in medical social (long-term) care. Causal relations among many statistical variables have been assessed using a Linear non-Gaussian Acyclic Model (LiNGAM). Using access to large amounts of health checkup data from Osaka prefecture obtained during the six fiscal years 2012-2017, we applied DirectLiNGAM algorithm as trial extract causal indices for age groups and genders. Results show that LiNGAM yields interesting reasonable results, suggesting correlation used these analyses.
