This paper presents an empirical study for 24 European countries that procure balancing power with auctions. We find there is no predominant market design in Europe but qualitatively identify three key drivers the variety designs: share of volatile renewable energy sources, short-term flexibility and coupling. The inconsistency auction designs, however, cannot be traced back to framework conditions. argue this a consequence applied multi-part mechanism offer brief review auction-theoretic literature.
This paper is a case-study based analysis of short-term hydro power optimization considering Spot and Intraday Auction markets. Both markets are closed order book auctions. The shows that the usage day-ahead price forecast-based water values in intraday trading leads to significantly different results than market. because higher fluctuations limited liquidity on A multistage quadratic presented optimizes market dispatch first stage, performs post-optimization exploit optionalities second...
Historically, the optimal production of hydro power plants was determined once day ahead. Today, many regulatory requirements in German electricity market make this process much more complex: Power plant operators are committed to report information on planned and even provision balancing energy each single generator transmission system operators. As soon as a deviation schedule occurs, hast be updated reported again. These lead point where optimization pumped can no longer done manually. In...
An in silico model for predicting skin penetration of active ingredients formulated plant protection products (PPP) has been developed using random forests (machine learning technique) that were trained with data from vitro human studies taken the EFSA dermal absorption database and in-house Bayer. In addition to applied dose, various physicochemical properties considered as parameters. The linked a novel percentile approach order make results usable regulatory purposes. Application an...
Germany’s current energy policy is focused on the replacement of conventional powered electrical supply system by renewable sources. This leads to increasing requirements flexibility for thermal power plants. Larger differences between from sources and demand in grid lead high dynamic with respect load change transients. Furthermore, a reduction required minimum existing plants necessary. The are indispensable securing network stability grid. Accordingly, activities improve required. By use...
This paper gives a solution to the question on how much secondary control reserve (SCR) should be offered from hydro power storage perspective of generator. We compare revenue and costs derive economically reasonable amount SCR. The cost side is calculated using scheduling optimization program. income determined by model that optimizes SCR capacity as well energy auction. underlying goal maximize profit for participating use historical prices generate optimal results 100 MW pumped storage.
Digital on-chip temperature measurement techniques usually require either a highly accurate clock frequency, or additional analog-to-digital conversion circuitry. This study proposes and investigates the applicability of buffer ring for measurement. The described concept provides digital representation temperature, yet it doesn't signal ADC. Therefore can be applied in purely analog asynchronous ICs, where it's rather easy to implement. Simulations show accuracies averaging around one kelvin...
In the past decade, variable renewable energy sources became increasingly competitive due to rapidly falling manufacturing costs. However, prices cannibalization could lead limited market driven investments. this paper, we present a method use dispatch model find an investment decision that can account for country risk factors such as social acceptance well fundamental influence power existing capacities and fuel prices. Results show Solar PV is more affected by price Spain has large...
