Triangular arrays of submicrometer magnetic dots, with typical spacing 400--600 nm and diameters close to 200 nm, have been fabricated by electron beam lithography study pinning effects on Nb thin films. The resistivity versus field curves exhibit regular structure. Minima appear at constant intervals, given the lattice parameter dot array. angular, current, temperature dependencies imply synchronized array which is relevant high vortex velocities, when order in increases.
Vortex pinning in Nb thin films with rectangular submicrometric magnetic dot arrays exhibits interesting effects. Magnetotransport reveals the existence of two regimes that correspond to types resistivity minima different constant field intervals. The relation array lattice parameters indicates a reconfiguration vortex from square is induced artificially by interaction array. transition occurs when elastic energy becomes larger than provided artificial sites. Using this associated dots can...

Abstract The biaxial van der Waals semiconductor α‐phase molybdenum trioxide (α‐MoO 3 ) has recently received significant attention due to its ability support highly anisotropic phonon polaritons (PhPs)—infrared (IR) light coupled lattice vibrations—offering an unprecedented platform for controlling the flow of energy at nanoscale. However, fully exploit extraordinary IR response this material, accurate dielectric function is required. Here, α‐MoO reported by modeling far‐field polarized...
Abstract Refraction between isotropic media is characterized by light bending towards the normal to boundary when passing from a low- high-refractive-index medium. However, refraction anisotropic more exotic phenomenon which remains barely investigated, particularly at nanoscale. Here, we visualize and comprehensively study general case of electromagnetic waves two strongly (hyperbolic) media, do it with use nanoscale-confined polaritons in natural medium: α-MoO 3 . The refracted exhibit...
Abstract Advances in nanoscale magnetism increasingly require characterization tools providing detailed descriptions of magnetic configurations. Magnetic transmission X-ray microscopy produces element specific domain images with nanometric lateral resolution films up to ∼100 nm thick. Here we present an imaging method using the angular dependence contrast a series high obtain quantitative magnetization (canting angles relative surface normal and sense). This is applied 55–120 thick...
Abstract The knowledge of how magnetization looks inside a ferromagnet is often hindered by the limitations available experimental methods which are sensitive only to surface regions or limited in spatial resolution. Here we report vector tomographic reconstruction based on soft X-ray transmission microscopy and magnetic dichroism data, has allowed visualizing three-dimensional ferromagnetic thin film heterostructure. Different non-trivial topological textures have been resolved...
We have prepared regular square arrays of Ni and Ag dots with typical diameter thickness approaching characteristic low-${T}_{c}$ superconducting length scales. The transport properties Nb films, grown on top these dots, were studied in a wide temperature magnetic-field range. act as pinning centers, thereby producing oscillations the field dependence resistance critical current film. periodicity corresponds to matching lattice spacing. Such an oscillatory behavior is absent for nonmagnetic...
The precise determination of dose-effect curves and the combination effect drugs is crucial importance in development new therapies for most dreadful diseases. We have found that current implementations theory Chou et al. are not accurate enough some circumstances might lead to erroneous predictions synergistic or antagonistic behaviour. identified source inaccuracies fixed it thereby improving accuracy those methods. Here we explain main features our approach demonstrate its higher as...
Bilayers of NdCo5/Ni8Fe2 can act as reconfigurable racetracks thanks to the parallel stripe-domain configuration present in hard magnetic material with weak perpendicular anisotropy (NdCo5), and its imprint on soft layer (Ni8Fe2). This pattern hosts domain walls well-defined vortex-antivortex configurations establishes paths for their deterministic propagation under effect pulsed currents. Magnetic transmission x-ray microscopy experiments show guided domain-wall events within Ni8Fe2 above a...
Reconfigurable magnetization textures offer control of spin waves with promising properties for future low-power beyond-CMOS systems. However, materials perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) suitable stable magnetization-texture formation are characterized by high damping, which limits their applicability in magnonic devices. Here, we propose to overcome this limitation using hybrid structures, i.e., a PMA layer magnetostatically coupled low-damping soft ferromagnetic film. We...
Submicrometric magnetic structures have been fabricated by electron-beam lithography on Si substrates. High-quality patterns obtained with typical length scale of the in range 100 nm. The designed geometrical configurations are suitable for investigation their physical properties transport measurements a controlled way. In particular, long chains connected dots useful to analyze magnetization reversal processes, whereas ordered arrays isolated can be used study pinning effects superconducting films.
Pinning interactions between superconducting vortices in Nb and magnetic Ni dots were studied as a function of current temperature to clarify the nature pinning mechanisms. A strong dependence is found for square array dots, with dependent optimum observation periodic pinning, that decreases (1-T/Tc)3/2. This same critical at first matching field rectangular dots. The analysis these results allows narrow possible mechanisms combination two: interaction vortex moment dot proximity effect....
In 1996, U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulations mandated the fortification of enriched cereal-grain products with folic acid, thereby emphasizing need for validated methods total folates in foods, particularly cereal products. We study both experimentally and theoretically the driven motion of domain walls in extended amorphous magnetic films patterned with a periodic array asymmetric holes. find two crossed-ratchet effects opposite sign that change preferred sense for wall propagation, depending on whether flat or kinked is moving. By solving numerically simple phi(4) model we show essential physical ingredients this effect are quite generic could be realized other experimental systems involving elastic...
Stripe domains are studied in perpendicular magnetic anisotropy films nanostructured with a periodic thickness modulation that induces the lateral of both stripe periods and inplane magnetization. The resulting system is 2D equivalent strained superlattice properties controlled by interfacial misfit strain within structure shape anisotropy. This allows us to observe, experimentally for first time, continuous structural transformation grain boundary this crystal whole angular range....

Rectangular arrays of Ni dots with small interdot separation have been fabricated in superconducting Nb films. The geometry these rectangular defines deep pinning potential channels. Two effects observed. (i) When the vortices move perpendicular to channels (i.e., along long side array) an enhancement background is observed, as predicted by theoretical models. This occurs for all magnetic fields. (ii) A new anisotropic matching effect, which has not theoretically predicted, measured....
Tendinopathy is a difficult problem to manage and can result in significant patient morbidity. Currently, the clinical use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) painful tendons widespread but its efficacy remains controversial. This study single-center, randomized double-blind controlled trial. Eighty patients will be allocated have ultrasound (US)-guided needling combined with leukocyte-depleted (that is, pure) PRP or lidocaine each alternate week for total two interventions. Outcome data collected...
Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (CRT) followed by total mesorectal excision has emerged as the standard treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) patients. However, many cases do not respond to neoadjuvant CRT, suffering unnecessary toxicities and surgery delays. Thus, identification of predictive biomarkers CRT is a current clinical need. In present study, microRNA-31 expression was measured in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) biopsies from 78 patients diagnosed with LARC who...
