The role of fluid shear stress (FSS) in collateral vessel growth remains disputed and prospective vivo experiments to test its morphogenic power are rare. Therefore, we studied the influence FSS on arteriogenesis a new model with extremely high levels flow pig rabbit hind limbs.A side-to-side anastomosis was created between distal stump one bilaterally occluded femoral arteries accompanying vein. This clamps reentry pressure at venous increases flow, which is directed large part into system....

To determine the outcome and periprocedural risk of endovascular revascularization in octogenarians with critical limb ischemia (CLI) compared their younger counterparts. The multicenter, prospective registry for First-line Treatments Patients With Critical Limb Ischemia (CRITISCH) enrolled 642 patients treated techniques ( ClinicalTrials.gov identifier NCT01877252). The were dichotomized according to age <80 years (n=421; mean 69 years, 292 men; group 1) or ≥80 (n=221; 85 113 2). groups had...

Submucosal tissue oxygen tension (PtO2) was measured in 20 patients with cervical esophagogastrostomy after resection of esophageal carcinoma, using a Clark-type electrode. The mean gastric baseline PtO2 54.6 ± 10.7 mm Hg.
