Local scour induced by tidal flow is a major hazard for sea-crossing bridge foundations in coastal areas. The irregular and silt-muddy seabed environment generates very complicated turbulence sediment transport. This paper, the first time, presents field measured holes around Hangzhou Bay Sea-Crossing Bridge (HBSB) under dominated water regions. high-resolution topography 19 south waterway of HBSB from 2015 to 2020 using multi-beam sonar system. data are analyzed investigate local...
This study investigated the relationship between essential plasma metals (Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Mo, Se, Zn) and telomere length in 2,194 Chinese adults aged ≥ 30 years. Metal concentrations were measured using ICP-MS, leukocyte relative (rTL) was assessed by qPCR. In elderly, Cr Mn significantly positively correlated with rTL, while Zn, Cu showed negative correlations. 30–59 age group, overall metal mixture negatively associated rTL (estimate = -0.069, P 0.003), Zn as dominant contributor. 0.040,...
Experimental tests of local scour around a circular-crossing pile (CCP) and square-crossing (SCP) were carried out to study the effects superimposed waves upon current in process differences characteristics two shaped piles. Non-uniform sediment with gradation 1.6 was used tests. Stokes 0.11 m height s period generated 50 cm water depth flume. The ratios Shields number critical current-only tests, waves-only test, waves-current individually 0.90, 1.48, 1.83, respectively. Keulegan-Carpenter...
The accurate prediction of the dilution and motion produced denser water (e.g., discharge concentrated brine generated during solution mining desalination) is importance for environmental protection. Boundary conditions ambient stratification can significantly affect gravity currents. In this study, a multiphase model was applied to simulate current descending slope into linearly stratified ambient. k-ω turbulence used better near-bed motion. mathematical model, initial boundary conditions,...
High nutritional value and the development of efficient biotechnological methods controlled production have made black porgy (Acanthopagrus schlegelii) an economically important fish in Chinese aquaculture recent years. However, species faces multiple issues associated with reduced growth rate, low reproduction ability, high mortality during production, which are species' limited tolerance to temperatures. To date, comprehensive information on genetic-based mechanisms cold adaptation...
In a complete organic ecosystem restoration in mining areas, soil and vegetation complement influence each other. It is of great significance to evaluate the ecological effect on stability area, with coupling coordinating relationship between herb community physicochemical properties after land reclamation. Therefore, this study takes Juxinlong Coal Mine Dongsheng District Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region as area. The understory herbaceous plant factors time 3 7 years were...
This study evaluates the effectiveness of artificial Kandelia obovata forests in wave attenuation through physical model experiments conducted a flume. The meticulously replicated real-world hydrodynamic conditions and mangrove movement responses using principles gravitational motion similarity, with scaled 1:10 obovata. Our approach included comparative against 1:100 gradient concrete slope to isolate effects seabed friction flume wall reflections. height was measured strategically placed...
Based on four years of spatially synchronous topographic data the Oujiang Estuary from 2002 to 2019, variations and physical mechanisms estuarine evolution driven by natural conditions human activities since beginning this century were analyzed. The results show that has changed dramatically in past 20 years. From net sediment erosion estuary was 163.44 million m3, average bed elevation river-dominated section (RDS), transition (TS) tide-dominated (TDS) decreased 4.61 m, 1.30 m 2.14...
Tidal bore impact can be strong and destructive, placing estuarine infrastructures under great threat. However, there is a lack of research focusing on accurately estimating the pressure exerted by tidal bores. Herein new experiments were conducted to investigate fronts in glass flume. Through analysis instantaneous three forms bore, it was observed that fluctuation weak breaking characterized pressure. The vertical distribution maximum studied. The appeared around 0.46 times height it....
This paper proposed a new methodology which was based on computational fluid dynamics for predicting the scouring process of underwater pipeline. By redeveloping commercial CFD computer code, governing equations flow model solved by finite volume method and wall shear stress acted as key parameter to judge incipient motion sediment firstly calculated. Then morphological change sandy bed simulated dynamic mesh technology. Based comparisons between experimental results numerical results, it...
In nearshore regions, bidirectional tidal flow is the main hydrodynamic factor, which induces local scour around submarine pipelines. So far, most studies on pipelines only consider action of unidirectional, steady currents and little attention has been paid to situation currents. To deeply understand characteristics produce a more accurate prediction method in for engineering application, series laboratory scale experiments were conducted current flume. The carried out at length 1:20 scaled...
Results are presented from a numerical simulation to investigate the vertical buoyant wall jet discharged into linearly stratified environment. A tracer transport model considering density variation was implemented. The standard k-ϵ with buoyancy effect used simulate evolution of in show that maximum velocity trend along direction has two regions: acceleration and deceleration. In deceleration region, is reduced by mixing taking place between fluid ambient lighter fluid. Jet further...
Revetment elements and protective facilities on a breakwater can effectively weaken the impact of waves. In order to resist storm surges, there is plan build northern shore Meizhou Bay in Putian City, China. To better design it, considering different environmental conditions, physical numerical experiments were carried out accurately study effects its auxiliary structures wave propagation. experiments, influence type, initial water depth, structure fence plate are considered. The run-up...
