In recent years, honey bee colony losses in the Republic of Kosovo remained largely unknown. From 2019 to 2021, 81 apiaries with different disease suspicions were investigated framework passive surveillance. Fifty-nine eighty-one tested for Vairimorpha ceranae, apis, trypanosomatids Lotmaria passim, and Crithidia mellificae. All samples positive V. ceranae (100%) whereas L. passim was found a lower frequency (11.9%). apis C. mellificae not found. Thirteen seven viruses (ABPV, CBPV, DWV,...

A survey on the prevalence of Salmonella (S) species was carried out 39 layer farms in Kosovo between April and September 2012. In total 367 samples, comprising feces, dust, eggs, internal organs from dead birds, were investigated using bacteriological culture methods. Additionally, data location farm, number birds age laying performance collected. isolated 38 samples obtained 19 (49%) farms. The most common serovar identified enteritidis, found 18 S. enteritidis phage type PT29 followed by...

In 2001, clinical cases of bluetongue were observed in Kosovo, and that year 2003 2004, serum samples collected from cattle small ruminants tested for antibodies to virus. The results provide evidence virus was not present Kosovo before the summer but circulated subclinically among sheep populations 2002, 2004.

In 2018, a case of neural disease suspected listeriosis was reported in flock sheep Kosovo with the death ewes and 5 lambs. Samples from brain only three dead animals were subjected to histopathological bacteriological analysis. MALDI-TOF MS applied confirm Listeria spp. isolates culture multiplex PCR for molecular serotyping. All tested antimicrobial susceptibility by microdilution broth method. The analysis specimens showed typical changes monocytogenes. isolated samples all animals,...

In this study, we report the first outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) A H5N8, clade 2.3.4.4b in Kosovo on 19 May 2021. The consisted three phases: May-June 2021, September-November and January-May 2022. total, 32 backyards 10 commercial holdings tested positive for virus. Interestingly, third last phase coincided with massive H5N1 epidemic Europe. Phylogenetic analyses 28 viral strains from revealed that they were closely related to H5N8 2.3.4.4.b viruses had been...

Three serum samples positive in Antigen ELISA BVDV have been tested to characterise genetic diversity of bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) Kosovo. Samples were obtained 2011 from heifers and amplified by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, sequenced analysed computer-assisted phylogenetic analysis.
