A new soft x-ray source has been developed and investigated. Argon is injected into a plasma focus through hole in the anode. The pinch emits several Joules per shot of x rays at λ<0.5 nm from multiple micropinches well aligned along axis symmetry. When viewed end-on appears as small 700 μm diam. have following characteristics: Range size 40–250 (depending on radiation wavelength), density 1028 m−3, temperature 1.5 keV, lifetime typically less than 1 ns. helium-like emission single...

Flash-x-ray-diffraction patterns (FXD) with an exposure time of 4 ns NaCl single crystals compressed by plane shock waves are obtained at pressures about 30 kbar. From the diffraction compression is determined and compared Hugoniot data. During load lattice shows uniaxial compression. While in case measurements free surface observation only a few nanoseconds available, this experimental set-up allows two microseconds.

The role of intracellular messengers in the stimulatory effect angiotensin II on angiotensinogen synthesis and secretion hepatocytes was examined. Angiotensinogen not influenced by modulators calcium (calmidazolium, A 23187, Bay K 8644, methoxamine). In contrast, agents decreasing cAMP (angiotensin II, guanfacine) stimulated, those increasing (isoproterenol, glucagon, forskolin) depressed secretion. An inverse relationship also observed between mRNA. Pretreatment with pertussis toxin...

Abstract In a cylindrical arrangement as deviced by G. R. Fowles and W. M. Isbell for the generation of Mach‐reflection shock waves in solids detonation condensed high explosives with different velocities is investigated. The process observed directly flash x‐ray radiography. By means this it possible to generate via plane wave, Mach‐disk. Characteristics applications Mach‐disk are discussed.

An enzyme immunoassay (EIA) for the detection of immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibodies to Treponema pallidum was investigated specificity and sensitivity. Using results in serum from 1192 patients with successfully treated syphilis, assay calculated be about 97% specific. As any other IgM linked immunosorbent (ELISA), rheumatoid factor played an important part causing false positive results. Pre-absorption aggregated IgG therefore necessary perform test. Evaluation 385 untreated primary,...

Investigations on the electron beam current of a free running pseudospark discharge are presented. A single gap system with hollow cathodes different dimensions is used. The filling gases argon and helium. signal consists first pulse currents several hundreds mA main up to 20 A. variation length diameter cathode significantly influences pressure range in which exists peak both pulses. Plasma formation generation studied by high speed photography. experimental results give some information...

The ignition of high-voltage glow discharges at voltages several kilovolts cannot be described by the Townsend theory. Therefore a simulation code was developed, which allows one to estimate influence elementary processes during process and calculate curves. One result these simulations is that secondary electron emission impact anode very important for production charged particles. Experimental measurements voltage yield similarity law Un=f(pd) not valid. decreases with increasing electric...

An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) using a highly purified soluble antigen prepared from pathogenic Treponema pallidum (Nichols) was carried out to detect specific IgM antibodies in syphilis. Serum specimens 365 patients with untreated or treated syphilis were tested by the ELISA and 19S(IgM) fluorescent treponemal antibody-absorbed test. In sera preabsorbed aggregated human IgG eliminate any rheumatoid factor present. Sera 331 healthy blood donors served as controls. The results...
