We present a simple efficient algorithm for the derivation of heart rate signal from electrocardiogram. demonstrate that amplitude spectrum this more closely matches input to an integral pulse frequency modulation (IPFM) model heart's pacemaker than do spectra other ECG-derived signals. The applicability in cross-spectral analysis between and physiologic signals is also discussed.
Background: Interventional therapies to relieve chronic deep vein thrombosis (DVT) fail through inability penetrate, cross, and remove the occlusion. Development of suitable tools requires fundamental understanding DVT mechanical properties a reliable model for testing. Methods: Female farm swine underwent novel, endovenous generation long-segment unilateral iliac thrombosis. Thrombus was confirmed via venogram, intravascular ultrasound, transabdominal duplex 14 days. components were...
• During the past two years, postoperative thromboses of parts or all splanchnic venous circulation have developed in four 30 patients with meyloproliferative disorders who undergone splenectomy at our institution. The patients' courses were marked by platelet abnormalities, both quantitative and qualitative. In an attempt to avoid this complication, aspirin low-dose heparin sodium been administered there has no evidence thrombosis so managed. (<i>Arch Surg</i>113:713-715, 1978)
We introduce a novel composition method that combines linear feedback registers into larger nonlinear structures and generalizes earlier methods such as cascade connections. prove Chaining Period Theorem which provides the cycle structure of these register constructions. then use this new construction we call Product Register (PR) to flexible scalable family with desirable properties, term Composite Mersenne Registers (CMPRs). provide an algorithm estimate complexity chosen CMPR investigate...
Triboelectric noise resulting from motion in the patient vicinity has been observed to occasionally interfere with ECG. Experiments were performed verify nature of interference and define factors which enable this ever-present phenomenon ECG acquisition. No instances have that could not be corrected by good electrode placement technique. This study shows currents produced during generation or discharge static electricity can easily accurately measured, technique used may applicable other...
The present study was undertaken to evaluate the efficacy of Kelly plication in preventing postoperative urinary stress incontinence clinically continent patients undergoing surgery for genitourinary prolapse. Thirty with grade-3 prolapse were found have a positive test repositioning during preoperative urodynamic evaluation. In addition repair, these underwent as preventive measure against possible development incontinence. Postoperative follow-up included detailed urogynecologic...
During winters of 1985-88, we conducted fixed-wing aerial surveys randomly selected 200- x 400-m plots along the coast South Carolina to evaluate relative use managed coastal impoundments and unimpounded tidal wetlands by 7 species wintering dabbling ducks. In general, occurrence ducks in wetland was greater (P < 0.005) than expected, unman-aged less expected for all except American black (Anas rubripes). Macrohabitat variables varied frequency association, direction degree influence, yearly...
This multicenter, double-blind, randomized, parallel study compared the efficacy and safety of two dosages naproxen sodium (NS) in 100 patients with bone pain due to metastatic cancer. Patients were asked rate their on a scale 0-99; those scores 40 or more (indicating moderate severe pain) enrolled. receiving high-dosage regimen (HDR; n = 51) received NS 550 mg every 8 h for 3 days. Those low-dosage (LDR; 49) day 1 an initial dose followed by 275 capsules through 3. evaluated intensity...

Although golf-course construction significantly alters natural wildlife habitat, the resulting remnant, disturbed, and introduced landscape patches may provide valuable habitat for birds. Considering current rate of new course construction, effects land consumption alteration on breeding bird communities in coastal South Carolina are immediate concern. During summer 2000 2001, we sampled 24 units (GCLU) to assess their value community. We defined a GCLU as legally owned parcel where golf was...
