The cross section for the astrophysically important $^{13}\mathrm{N}$(p,\ensuremath{\gamma}${)}^{14}$O reaction has been measured directly with an intense (3\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}${10}^{8}$ particles/s) and pure (>99%) 8.2-MeV $^{13}\mathrm{N}$ radioactive ion beam. average value, 5.8--8.2-MeV energy range, is 106(30) \ensuremath{\mu}b. partial \ensuremath{\gamma} width of resonance which occurs in this at a center-of-mass 0.545 MeV deduced to be 3.8(1.2) eV. It compared...

Formation of protective oxide scales is the main reason for high oxidation resistance TiAlN based coatings. Here authors report on further improvement in by Ta alloying. An industrial-scale cathodic arc evaporation facility was used to deposit Ti–Al–Ta–N coatings from powder metallurgically produced Ti38Al57Ta5 targets. After ambient air, a significantly reduced layer thickness comparison unalloyed reference material observed. Energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy line scans and secondary ion...

Angular distributions of the Coulomb dissociation 8B in field 208Pb at Ein = 51.9 MeV/u were measured 0° ⩽ θ8 10° and 0.5 Erel 2.25 MeV. The data analyzed using a quantum mechanical method where E1, E2 ℓ 2 nuclear amplitudes are included. Although systematic effects could be large, extracted components appear to considerably smaller than any theoretical predictions reported so far.

The cross section for the 18F(p,α) 15O reaction has been obtained in reverse kinematics (18F beam on CH2 target) between 550 and 740 keV above threshold, i.e. a region of astrophysical interest. yield is dominated by wide resonant state whose spin, parity, total width partial widths were deduced from analysis α-particle elastic proton data.

The effect of microstructure on the thermal stability and hardness cathodic arc evaporated Ti0.5Al0.5N coatings was investigated with aid in-situ high-temperature X-ray diffraction experiments, which were accompanied by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) nanoindentation measurements. modified through choice bias voltage in deposition process. It found that affects strongly uniformity local distribution titanium aluminum coatings. nonuniform elements contributes to...

The oxidation kinetics of AlTiTaN hard coatings deposited at 265 °C by DC magnetron sputtering were investigated between 700 and 950 for various durations. By combining dynamic secondary ion mass spectrometry (D-SIMS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) investigations the different oxidized coatings, we able to highlight mechanisms involved. TEM cross-section observations combined with XRD analysis show that a single amorphous oxide layer comprising Ti, Al, Ta...
