A PCR technique to differentiate pathogenic enteric Escherichia coli strains in a field setting was evaluated. Among 76 children with acute diarrhea, this identified 12 (16%) enterotoxigenic E. coli, 6 (8%) enteropathogenic and 1 (1%) enteroinvasive infection. Compared the conventional assays, method proved be simpler, more rapid, inexpensive therefore suitable for application developing-country setting.

The sweat test was performed by the method of Gibson and Cooke on 36 children with second third degree malnutrition, aged from 2 months to 4 years. results were compared those 32 healthy, well nourished controls in same age range. Determinations made sodium chloride concentrations, chloride/sodium ratio, sum concentrations two electrolytes each sample. malnourished found have higher than ones. None normal or had a value greater 60 mmol/l; values within suspicious range (between 40 mmol/l)...
The effects of an obesogenic post-weaning diet on the growth and metabolic parameters adult offspring submitted to a hypocaloric in perinatal life were evaluated. Male Wistar rats divided into two groups according maternal during pregnancy lactation: Control (C, received normocaloric diet) lactation (H, diet). At weaning, half number animals each group was more diet: control (CC, n=12), subject (CO n=11), (HC, n=14) (HO, n=9). Maternal body weight, food intake, energy intake recorded daily....
The search of biomarkers effects due to the non-target organisms’ exposure fungicides is intensifying. Nowadays, alterations biochemical and developmental parameters are among measures events most studied as possible depending critical periods in development; since many these products alter several aspects reproductive system. Beyond biomarker used traditionally fertility percentage, abortions still-born, other related physical development were added; vitro establishment method for...
