A new poroid genus with two conspicuous and common species growing on living Fabaceae trees is described from the Seasonally Dry Tropical Forests biome of Brazil. Both taxa in this forest pathogen resemble Phellinus rimosus macroscopically, but are distinguished by a dimitic hyphal system skeletal hyphae present only trama tube layer while context remains monomitic, ellipsoid, thick-walled, adaxially flattened, yellow basidiospores that turn chestnut brown KOH solution. Molecular...
From 2007 to 2014, specimens of Amauroderma were collected mostly in North and Northeast Brazil. Additionally, material deposited herbaria was reviewed. The analysed represented 20 species, six them new science: albostipitatum, A. floriformum, laccatostipitatum, ovisporum, sessile subsessile. Twelve three new, had their ITS and/or LSU region the DNA sequenced. According results, is not monophyletic; partitum schomburgkii are macro-morphologically variable species; synonym calcigenum with...
Soil is a complex biological system that plays key role for plants and animals, especially in dry forests such as the Caatinga. Fungi from soils, Aspergillus Penicillium, can be used bioindica- tors biodiversity conservation. The aim of this study was to isolate identify species Penicillium soil, municipalities Tupanatinga Ibimirim, with forests, Catimbau National Park. Five collections were performed each area during drought season 2012, totaling 25 soil samples per area. isolated by...
During surveys in the Brazilian Amazon, Atlantic Forest and Caatinga, several species of poroid Hymenochaetaceae were collected. Of collected specimens, ITS LSU sequences generated phylogenetic analyses performed. From morphological inferences, Sclerotus Xavier de Lima, gen. nov. is described based on collections Phellinus extensus, while Inonotus parvisetus V.R.T. Oliveira, Lima & Gibertoni, sp. nov., Tropicoporus flabellatus J.R.C. Oliveira-Filho, nov T. nullisetus Oliveira are as new...
Overweight and obesity are established factors underpin several metabolic impairments, including the cardiovascular. Although diversity of involved in overweight/obesity-induced cardiovascular diseases, mitochondria has been highlighted due to its role cardiac metabolism. As can be originated early postnatal life, current study evaluates effects neonatal overfeeding on mitochondrial bioenergetics oxidative balance rats that underwent an ischemia-reperfusion insult. Seventy-two hours after...
Psathyrella atlantica is described based on material collected in an Atlantic Forest fragment the state of Pernambuco, Northeast Brazil. It characterized by slender, whitish and caespitose basidiomata; pileus with orange, small floccose-squamulose veil remnants; presence a persistent but fragile-membranous annulus; basidiospores 5-7 × 3-4 µm; inconspicuous germ pore. A full description plus illustrations comments morphological phylogenetic data are provided.
