Abstract Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) is an effective protection technique developed for light alloys, such as aluminum, magnesium and titanium alloys. PEO electrolytes often contain fluorides, yet their functionality not well understood during the oxide layer formation growth. In present work, we tracked fluoride evolvement contained in ceramic protective formed on AZ91 It found that a rich with 1–2 μ m thickness at coating/substrate interface nanocrystalline MgO islands size of...
Curvature effects are typically present in the process of additive manufacturing (AM), particularly for wire arc manufacturing. In this paper, stainless-steel was adopted to deposit thin-walled samples with different curvatures. Optical microscopy, SEM, EDS and micro-hardness used analyse microstructure, composition properties samples. The result shows that bottom region sample had a mainly planar cellular crystal microstructure. For middle region, microstructure revealed dendrites, top...
In this work, we study the correlation of corrosion resistance, characterization related oxide layer and microstructure mainly using thermohydrogen processing (THP) plus common industrial heat treatment Ti-6Al-4V alloy. It appears that better resistance higher hardness alloy can be achieved by post-THP annealing associated with controlled oxidation reaction at 704°C which leads to formation significant thinner denser increased amount TiO 2 , Al O 3 V 5 .
