Aims The aim of this study was to determine the utility pulsed wave Doppler tissue imaging in evaluation regional left ventricular diastolic function patients with ischaemic heart disease. Methods and Results In 30 normal subjects 43 disease, performed each 16 segments myocardium. following parameters were obtained for segment: (1) early peak velocity (regional e cm.s−1); (2) late a (3) e/a ratio; (4) isovolumic relaxation time, defined as time interval from second sound onset E wave. these...

Doppler echocardiography remains the most extended clinical modality for evaluation of left ventricular (LV) function. Current ultrasound methods, however, are limited to representation a single flow velocity component. We thus developed novel technique construct 2D time-resolved (2D+t) LV fields from conventional transthoracic acquisitions. Combining color-Doppler velocities with wall positions, cross-beam blood were calculated using continuity equation under planar assumption. To validate...

Diastolic suction is a major determinant of early left ventricular filling in animal experiments. However, remains incompletely characterized the clinical setting.First, we validated method for measuring spatio-temporal distributions diastolic intraventricular pressure gradients and differences (DIVPDs) by digital processing color Doppler M-mode recordings. In 4 pigs, error peak DIVPD was 0.0+/-0.2 mm Hg (intraclass correlation coefficient, 0.95) compared with micromanometry. Forty patients...

Ejection intraventricular pressure gradients are caused by the systolic force developed left ventricle (LV). By postprocessing color Doppler M-mode (CDMM) images, we can measure noninvasively ejection difference (EIVPD) between LV apex and outflow tract. This study was designed to assess value of Doppler-derived EIVPDs as noninvasive indices chamber function.CDMM images pressure-volume (conductance) signals were simultaneously acquired in 9 minipigs undergoing pharmacological interventions...

During late ejection, myocardial relaxation causes systolic flow to decelerate and stop, this phenomenon is coupled with the generation of a pressure gradient inside left ventricle (LV). We hypothesized that peak reverse ejection intraventricular difference (REIVPD) between LV apex outflow tract could be useful method improve assessment using Doppler echocardiography.Three sets animal experiments 1 clinical study were designed. In 6 pigs, close relationship REIVPD intensity wave (R(rm)=0.89)...

An on-lattice Monte Carlo model is implemented for the simulation of particle deposit growth by advection and diffusion towards a flat surface. The structure characterized its bulk (density) interface (mean height surface width) properties. Numerical correlations, fitted simple expressions, are reported these magnitudes, relating them to time (number deposited particles) Peclet number. Also heuristic argument presented which relates density local diffusion-limited-aggregation-like processes...

Experiments in rupture of mercury drops have been performed recording the size distribution cumulative number for different conditions rupture. A transition from log-normal to scaling behavior is shown. To describe it, a geometric probabilistic model proposed. Consequently, can be described as process percolation Bethe lattice. Then, and viewed problem phase transition. Comparison with several fracture experimental data also made showing possibilities this viewpoint.

The expression of survival factors for radiation damaged cells is currently based on probabilistic assumptions and experimentally fitted each tumor, radiation, conditions. Here, we show how the simplest these radiobiological models can be derived from maximum entropy principle classical Boltzmann-Gibbs expression. We extend this derivation using Tsallis a cutoff hypothesis, motivated by clinical observations. obtained shows remarkable agreement with experimental data found in literature.
