Electronic cigarettes (e-cigs), initially introduced as smoking cessation aids, have given rise to a new wave of nicotine dependence. A critical question that has emerged is the potential adverse effects e-cig use on oral health, particularly how vapor emitted from these devices may alter salivary composition users. Here, we investigate users and analyze e-liquids (flavorings) using Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Saliva samples were categorized into two groups: e-cigarette...

Abstract Objectives Electronic nicotine delivery systems (e‐cigarette, pod, and vape) are currently among the tobacco consumption of adolescents young adults. The aim is to show oral mucosa saliva alterations related vape. Material Methods A vape‐user patient, presenting a white plaque in posterior region hard palate, underwent clinical examination, sialometry, pH evaluation, excisional biopsy lesion. Molecular changes vape liquid were analyzed by vibrational spectroscopy. Results...

Oral cancer, ranking sixth in global prevalence, is frequently diagnosed at an advanced stage, significantly impacting patient survival rates. The potential of liquid biopsy for cancer diagnosis offers a dynamic approach to tumor monitoring and disease surveillance. Objective(s): Our goal validate novel diagnostic using optical images dried microdroplets saliva samples. Subjects: 1 μl samples from healthy oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma patients were pippeted on glass platinum substrates...

This study aims to analyze saliva composition in crack users using vibrational spectroscopy. A total of 90 participants were meticulously selected and divided into three groups, each comprising 30 individuals. All met the criterion having no observable clinical changes oral mucosa. The groups included active with a minimum usage duration days, ex-crack users, non-crack users. Rigorous inclusion exclusion criteria applied during participant selection ensure study's precision. Saliva analysis...

Investigating the molecular mechanism underlying aggregation process of amyloid fibers is great importance both for its implications in several degenerative diseases and design new materials based on self-assembly. In particular, micro/nanotubes L,L-diphenylalanine have been investigated as a model plaques Alzheimer's disease also their broad range physical properties, e.g., good thermo- mechanical stability, semiconductivity, piezoelectricity optical properties. It has reported that...

The oral cancer is the 6th most incident type in world and prevalent among men than women. Usually screening procedures are performed only advanced stages which leads to an increase of mortality morbidity. Analyzing images from 20 patients we conclude that observed optical image (conventional microscope or smartphone) formed pattern enables discrimination few hours. It represents a non-invasive diagnostic method minimizes hospital medical procedures, hospitalizations patient discomfort.
