Abstract This study presents a systematic comparison of the antifouling properties water‐soluble poly(2‐oxazoline) (PAOx) and poly(2‐oxazine) (PAOzi) brushes grafted to gold surfaces. PAOx PAOzi are emerging polymer classes in biomedical sciences being considered superior alternatives widely used polyethylene glycol (PEG). Four different polymers, poly(2‐methyl‐2‐oxazoline) (PMeOx), poly(2‐ethyl‐2‐oxazoline) (PEtOx), poly(2‐methyl‐2‐oxazine) (PMeOzi), poly(2‐ethyl‐2‐oxazine) (PEtOzi), each...
Abstract Microporous organic polymers (MOP) of a new type have been synthesised in high yields by simple coordination polymerization 1,3‐diethynylbenzene, 1,4‐diethynylbenzene and 4,4′‐diethynylbiphenyl catalysed [Rh(cod)acac] [Rh(nbd)acac] complexes. The MOPs are non‐swellable polyacetylene‐type conjugated networks consisting ethynylaryl‐substituted polyene main chains that crosslinked arylene linkers. Prepared MOP samples mole fraction branching units (by 13 C CP/MAS NMR) from 0.30 to 0.47...
Polymer brush coatings are effective in preventing blood coagulation or bacterial attachment, but their chain conformation, while vital for this effect, was never characterized high spatial resolution. Here, we report mid-infrared spectroscopic nanoscopy studies of few-nanometer-thin poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) films which reveal marked spectral variations along the surface at a length scale smaller than 100 nm and originating only from physical conformation chains. The average orientation...
Antifouling polymer layers containing extracellular matrix-derived peptide motifs offer promising new options for biomimetic surface engineering. In this contribution, we report the design of antifouling vascular grafts bearing biofunctional tissue regeneration applications based on hierarchical brushes. Hierarchical diblock poly(methyl ether oligo(ethylene glycol) methacrylate-block-glycidyl methacrylate) brushes azide groups (poly(MeOEGMA-block-GMA-N3)) were grown by surface-initiated atom...
Abstract The synthesis of mostly new acetylenes, R 1 CCR 2 , (R = 4‐ t ‐butylphenyl; 4‐[( ‐butyl)(diphenyl)silyloxy]phenyl; 1‐naphthyl; 2‐naphthyl; 9‐anthryl) is reported. Their UV‐vis characteristics are discussed in comparison to the results TD‐DFT calculations. (except for give polyacetylenic polymers—[C(R ) C(R )]‐ n insoluble if and well soluble ≠ polymerization with TaCl 5 /SnBu 4 . Polymerizability increases increasing monomer triple bond accessibility catalyst. photoluminescence...
N-(prop-1-yne-3-yl)-4-(piperidine-1-yl)-1,8-naphthalimide (PNPr), i.e., the monomer with a terminal ethynyl group and 1,8-naphthalimide fluorophore, has been successfully copolymerized series of monoethynylarenes into well-soluble high-molecular-weight (Mw up to 210 000) linear polyacetylene-type copolymers containing from 14 51 mol% units derived PNPr. The copolymerization PNPr bifunctional 4,4′-diethynylbiphenyl provides micro/mesoporous fluorescent network 8 exhibiting...
Abstract New stable polyacetylenes whose quantum yield of fluorescence is increased up to 62% because the presence pendant 4‐(piperidine‐1‐yl)‐1,8‐naphtalimide groups are described. The polymers prepared by two‐step modification copolymers 1‐(4‐ tert ‐butylphenyl)‐6‐chlorohex‐1‐yne and 1‐phenylhex‐1‐yne consisting exchange chlorine atoms at side for azide subsequent Huisgen click reaction with ethynyl N ‐(prop‐1‐yne‐3‐yl)‐4‐(piperidine‐1‐yl)‐1,8‐naphthalimide. Modification evidenced 1 H NMR,...
Abstract Poly(2‐( N , ‐dimethylamino)ethyl acrylate) (PDMAEA) is a promising charge‐shifting polycation with the capacity to form range of morphologically distinct polyelectrolyte assemblies. Nevertheless, basic character monomer and its hydrolytic instability impedes controlled synthesis higher molecular weight (MW). Herein, reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer polymerization DMAEA reported using tert‐butanol/V70 initiator/trithiocarbonate‐based agent (CTA) setup. The CTA...
