Neuronal and glial cells organizing the central nervous system are generated from common neural precursor present in neuroepithelium during development. We tried to clarify functions of a cell surface microdomain, lipid raft, neuroepithelial (NECs). NECs suggested adhere fibronectin substratum dependently on integrin molecules. found that β1 integrin, component receptors, was distributed rafts. Methyl‐β‐cyclodextrin (MBCD), an inhibitor raft formation, inhibited integrin‐fibronectin...

Retrons are bacterial immune systems that protect a population against phages by killing infected hosts. typically comprise reverse transcriptase, template noncoding RNA is partially transcribed into RT-DNA, and toxic effector. The RNA, RT-DNA complex sequester the effector until triggered phage infection, at which point toxin released to induce cell death. Due their ability produce single-stranded DNA in vivo, retrons have also been engineered donor templates for genome editing both...

Abstract Neuronal and glial cells organizing the central nervous system (CNS) are generated from common neural precursor (NPCs) during development. However, expression of cell‐surface glycoconjugates that crucial for determining properties biological function these at different stages development has not been clearly defined. In this study, we investigated several stage‐specific glycoconjugate antigens, including b‐series gangliosides GD3, 9‐O‐acetyl GT1b GQ1b, embryonic antigen‐1 (SSEA‐1)...

It has been believed that the climate of East Africa is basically controlled by two “monsoons” which are prevalent over region. But, in addition, frequent appearances westerlies and their rain bringing character have long known empirically. The hitherto reports, however, contain some contradictory remarks regarding season appearance, spatial distribution, origin association with weather. author attempted to make a full use all available data meteorological observations investigate time...

We studied a patient with hyperglycemia who developed choreic involuntary movements in the right extremities using single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) 123I-N-isopropyl-p-iodoamphetamine. SPECT revealed an increased blood flow left striatum and thalamus. Through control of glucose administration haloperidol, hemichorea was resolved, thalamus disappeared. These findings suggest that flow, which probably indicates neuron activity thalamus, is underlying pathophysiological state...

A novel trisialoganglioside has been isolated from dogfish (Squalus acanthias) brain. From the results of gas chromatography-mass spectrometric analysis methylated sugars, enzymatic hydrolysis, fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry, and proton nuclear magnetic resonance analysis, its structure was concluded to be (formula; see text) This is first report occurrence a ganglioside with 3 sialic acid residues separately linked gangliotetraosyl backbone.

Superfast transesterification of triolein (a biodiesel feedstock model) was achieved in the presence liquefied dimethyl ether using co-solvent effect and low viscosity. Furthermore, a method for higher ester yield, which methanol additionally introduced into reaction system immediately before beginning phase separation due to byproduct glycerin maintain homogeneous state, proposed. This led superfast high-yield with yield exceeding 96% at 3 min.

Rat small intestinal goblet cell mucins reacting with monoclonal antibody HCM31 increase significantly during regeneration from experimental mucosal damage and at the period of expulsion parasitic nematode, Nippostrongylus brasiliensis (N.b). The reduction in reactivity mucin upon neuraminidase treatment, suggested that recognizes sialylated oligosaccharide on mucin. HCM31-reactive sialomucins are therefore considered to play an important role physiological pathological changes...
