Interferon (IFN)-γ is mainly secreted by CD4+ T helper 1 (Th1), natural killer (NK) and NKT cells after skin injury. Although IFN-γ well known regarding its inhibitory effects on collagen synthesis fibroblasts in vitro, information limited role wound healing vivo. In the present study, we analyzed how defect of affects healing. Full-thickness wounds were created backs wild type (WT) C57BL/6 IFN-γ-deficient (KO) mice. We percent closure, breaking strength, accumulation leukocytes, expression...

Morbilliviruses, including measles virus (MV), canine distemper (CDV), and cetacean morbillivirus, pose a significant threat to humans animals. While the host range of morbilliviruses is generally well-defined, severe cross-species transmission events also have been reported.& Their entry into immune cells, primary targets morbilliviruses, relies on signaling lymphocytic activation molecule (SLAM), receptor whose species-specific variations influence viral range. However, extent which...

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a seasonal respiratory pathogen that primarily affects young children, potentially causing severe lower tract disease. Despite the high disease burden, understanding of RSV pathophysiology remains limited. To address this, advanced infection models are needed. Whereas HEp-2 cells widely used because their susceptibility to RSV, they do not accurately reflect host response human tract. In this study, we evaluated human-induced pluripotent stem cell-derived...

Cryptococcus neoformans is rich in polysaccharides of the cell wall and capsule. Dectin-2 recognizes high-mannose plays a central role immune response to fungal pathogens. Previously, we demonstrated was involved activation dendritic cells upon stimulation with C. neoformans, suggesting existence ligand recognized by Dectin-2. In present study, examined structures contributing Dectin-2-mediated cells. NFAT-GFP reporter assay reported expressing Dectin-2, lysates, but not whole yeast cells,...

Cryptococcus deneoformans is an opportunistic fungal pathogen that frequently causes fatal meningoencephalitis in patients with impaired cell-mediated immune responses such as AIDS. Caspase-associated recruitment domain 9 (CARD9) plays a critical role the host defense against cryptococcal infection, suggesting involvement of one or more C-type lectin receptors (CLRs). In present study, we analyzed macrophage-inducible (Mincle), CLRs, C. infection. Mincle expression lungs wild-type (WT) mice...

Abstract Human parainfluenza viruses (hPIVs) are causative agents of upper and lower respiratory tract infections they have four serotypes. The virion surface displays hemagglutinin‐neuraminidase (HN), having hemagglutinating (HA) neuraminidase (NA) activities in a single molecule. HA activity binds the to sialic acid on viral receptor host cells NA releases progeny from cell surface. There several methods for assaying activity, such as thiobarbituric assay, 4‐methylumbelliferyl‐ N...

Virus isolates are not only useful for diagnosing infections, e.g., respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), but can also facilitate many aspects of practical viral studies such as analyses antigenicity and the action mechanisms antivirals, among others. We have been isolating RSV from clinical specimens patients with symptoms every year since our first isolation in 1964, rates varied considerably over years. As collected conventionally stored a refrigerator collection to inoculation into cells,...

Abstract Our previous findings indicated that many respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) isolates are unstable at 4 °C compared to 20 °C. Some of the strains completely lose infectivity after 24 h This study analyzed inactivation process using a representative strain, RSV/Sendai/851/13. After storage °C, was inactivated but retained its ability attach and be taken into host cells. It suggested reduced fusion between viral cellular membranes.
